SOURCE: remote starter

i worked as a chevy mechanic for many years, it sounds like your keyless entry module needs to be reprogrammed, only problem is, it takes a $4000 and a subscription to GM's service site. which most don't have, so its easier to just take it in to the dealer, however before they start working on it have them check for recalls on the programming, chevy releases reprograms on the computer systems every couple months to solve issues like this, if your van has an open reprogram on it, then the dealer will reprogram it for no charge. but make sure you have them check for open bulletins before they put any labor into finding the problem, you may get out with no bill at all if so.

SOURCE: I REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN

If you do not have a pass key any more, then you will need to dissable the antitheft (pass key module) in order for the engine to turn over. From what I gather you have replaced the column with an older version, which will not allow any comm. with the module. The pass key module enables the starter circuit. See diagram.

SOURCE: I bought a Chevy Trailblazer, used, had keyless

You need to find the black push button called the valet button. That is the overide. Get in the car turn the key to IGN as the alarm is going off and then you have either 5 or 10 seconds to push that button once and then 2-5 seconds later the alarm is shut off. To put the car into valet mode which means no alarm at all you put the key to IGN push that button once then pull key out at which point the blue light should turn solid blue.

Or option two is you open a door and hit the lock, then unlock, then lock button again on the remote and the blue led will be solid which means no crazy alarm.

Alarm on 2004 kia spectra wont let me start car

If the alarm is aftermarket I would remove it , I see this problem several times a month , take a test light and test for power at the starter signal wire while someone turns the key to crank this is the small gauge wire going into starter,if there is no power at this wire it will not crank ,if you momentarily apply voltage to the starter signal wire it will crank( also check starter signal fuse)(most alarm systems have a starter interrupt system ,and the aftermarket alarms fail after a few years) Alot of people believe there alarm is factory because it was there when they bought it new but dealer do add alarms that are aftermarket to please there insurance companies

The car wont start battery good starter good has lights and power just no turn over

does it have an alarm system? does it have a little metal chip in the key surrounded by plastic, if so that's your factory alarm disable chip that allows the car to start. if your key has a chip in it then this is more than likely your problem, it's a bad design that wears out and fails in different ways. you need to either find someone who can bypass the alarm or you'll need to have the ignition lock assembly replaced.

WHAT U WANNA DO IS REMOVE THE PANNEL THATS RIGHT ABOVE THE DRIVERS KNEES AND ONCE PANNEL IS REMOVED THERE SHOULD BE A BOX (AFTER MARKET ALARM IT SHOULD BE BLACK ) IT SHOULD BE TO THE DRIVERS RIGHT ... YOU CANT MISS IT ...
ANYWAYZ THERES A HARNESS CLIPED INTO THE BOX ... JUST DISCONNECT THE HARNESS AND TRY TO START THE CAR .
IF IT STARTS THEN JUST PUT YOUR PANNEL BACK ON AND DO A COUPLE DOUGHNUTS FOR ME =)

Hi,
If you have the Toyota factory alarm, there should be button under the driver's side dash to reset the alarm....Look for it 1st, then read below.

Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking, to the ON position.

Then within 5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start the engine.

At this point, the only thing working would
be the keyless entry from the alarm,
if it came equipped that way.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.
You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,
and the lights may flash twice as well.

Td

Check your manual if you have it. I believe you need to have the key in the ignition in the ON position for about 10 minutes to reset the security system.

Wont turn over with key?

W/out knowing details on your vehicle, it makes it very difficult to help. Year? Stick or auto>? engine/trans info. Does it have an alarm installed or a factory security system?

Common checks would be park/neutral switch (Or clutch switch if its a stick), fuses (some cars actually fuse the start signal), old alarm brain that has activated and cut off starter signal, and do the cluster lamps go into SELF TEST and all light up when you turn the key to CRANK. If the lamps do the normal cranking bulb check, then likely your ignition switch is working. depending on the year, ford ignition switches sometymes could be a common problem. But without info to look up a diagram, cant offer more help than generalities

How to check and replace the ignition lock

With the key in the on possition. Hook a positive wire from the battery to the starter terminal were switch kicks it in. See if it turns over for you. if so you have a bad switch. if not, a bad starter.
