Question about GMC Suburban
I have a 1994 Suburban K-1500 4x4. I just replaced the battery 2 days ago. Suddenly, on my way to work, the battery light came on, and I lost power steering. I muscled my way to work, then drove it home, after work. Since it would start and drive fine. It just had no power steering, low lights, and it seemed like the truck was getting pretty hot. But I only live 6 miles from work. When I parked it, I noticed there was a loud gushing noise coming from behind the dashboard. My hood would not open for me, and I can't figure out how to get it to open. The latch may have broken. So, since it was dark when I got home I waited till this morning to send my husband out to look at it. He couldn't open the hood either, but he said my truck made a huge mess. There is some kind of fluid that has spilled all around the truck, causing a big rainbow on the ground in the parking lot, my husband said. What is wrong? And if anyone can give me any ideas on how to get my hood up, that would be great. Thanks.
Reach up from under the truck right in front of the grill you can see the hood cable just pull it

I believe I can help with the clicking. The parking lights should be flashing Also. Whenever power is lost to the system IE the battery removed, The factory anti theft comes on. It is a small 4" x4" box hooked by steering column under dash. It has a red button you push for a few secounds and that should stop the clicking and flashing.

You really should have a code check done. There are numerous items that can give you similar symptoms. Two places to look are the fuel filter (usually overlooked till they gum up, and the throttle position sensor (but test it first with an ohmeter. You will need a manual (vehicle specific ones are available at most larger parts stores and most of those stores also do code testing free)

Have you replaced the timing belt? if not i would highly recommend doing so. these cars need to have the timing belt replaced before it breaks otherwise it can and will cause major engine damage.
