Question about 1995 Chevrolet S-10 CA Edition
I have a 1993 blazer with a V6 vortec engine and a 4L60E tranny, st first the tranny had a hard time down shifting gone up hill> I would leave it in drive after a few seconds it would shift. same when i used overdrive. I add a tranny additive and a little more fluid. it seamed to run okey for about a hundred miles then I lost power and pulled over and the fluid was everywhere. put a quaet in and drove it home and drained the fluid that was left the fluid was a redish brown with a tint of black. coud it be just the filter has not been changed in a long rime I just bought it. or maybe a sensor. please help.
What has probably happened is you have busted a tranny cooler line or transmission seal.
The reason your fluid is brownish black is due to running it with all the fluid coming out
and thus taking the life force out of the tranny, the black tint you are seeing is flakes
of your clutch packs inside the transmission that have worn prematuraly due to lack
of lubrication.Long story short, when you fix the leak, more than likely your tranny
will slip and warrant a rebuild or replacement. sorry to be the bearer of bad news but i
hope this helps.
