Unless the wires were removed the firing order cannot change as also the length of the wires do not permit that the wires switch over. All what is needed is to check the spark at each plug , if of low internsity check the ignition system including the HT coil. Also the fuel filter and the fuel pump for the right pressure.
I dont know what "points distributor" you installed or how you made sure you installed it correctly. But a more simple way would be to get a distributor that has the coil pack built in. That kind only would require 2 wire connection. Positive 12 v and ground. also it has a 3rd connection you may use that is for the tac. very simple. The one you have now ... do you get spark to the spark plugs. If so I would fool around more with being sure it is installed correctly, find TDC and be sure the rotor is pointing to the #1 cylinder, ALSO that you have the plug wires going in the right order on the cap. I dont think you will have luck with the computer compatible question.
Hi Dano, For installing the tacho on a vr there should be a single wire not pluged into anything, on your wire loom under the bonet on the LHS, this is the wire you need.. Please let us know if that was helpful enough. Thanks Shiv.
Dont know if you tried this already but go to a car audio store and ask for an adapter the plugs into your stereo and then it plugs into the factory wiring harness. its easier and cleaner and less stressfull. if you done so write back and Ill see if I can send you a pick or something.

That's not going to work. You can't install a air flow meter into a Pulsar from a Q45. Totally different animals. Air flow meters are car specific. I don't think its gonna work, but good luck with that.
