Question about Ford Contour
Wheel cylinder have been replaced and brakes too but still no brakes
Firstly slacken handbrake cable off then remove the drums and make sure their is no rusty lip on the outside of the inside of the drum ,grind it down if their is ,then manually adjust the brakes a couple of clicks at a time till drum just slides on nicely and has a slight drag /rubbing noise ,then re-adjust handbrake till it has 3 clicks and the wheels still turn ,Brakes should be perfect if not renew the master cylinder

SOURCE: spongy brakes
Does sound like you need a new master cylinder. On a 2000 you wont need to back bleed. You will just need to follow the instruction and bleed the master and all four points. you will probably need to bleed the ABS block and proportioning valve but only if they have bleeders on them.

SOURCE: brake bleeding
if you didn't bleed the lines after putting the master in. then there is a good chance there is air in the lines now. may go through a quart of brake fluid before all the air is out. remember to start at r-rear/ l-rear/ r-front/ l-front last.will take some time. don't forget to adjust the rear brake while your there to help with the pedal
