SOURCE: I have to replace the

Well, typically you can do what you describe, however: If there is a problem with the rings/pistons/cylinder walls, then compression gases are getting past the rings. This causes heat damage and the cylinder walls need to be resized to the next oversize. If you do not do this, the repair will usually not be successful for very long, if at all.
Bore it out one size and you should have good results.

Need to know where the starter is located on a 1994 acura legend

Sometimes these are hard to find because they seem to build the vehicle around the engine. The starter should be in the area where the motor and the gearbox mount together, so start at the top and work your way down each side.

When you turn the starter you hear the starter but it seems not to engage to the flywheel

sounds like the solenid is stuck. tap the starter a couple of times with a hammer and try to start it to see if it loosens up. if that does not work, you may need to remove the starter and have it checked at your auto parts store.

How much should it cost to have a stater installed

If you have full power to the car and lights dont dim, etc. then you have a charged battery and alternator. Honda's are high compression engines and take a strong starter to turn the motor over. If you are putting key in and turnign to CRANK and you get no response, the power doesnt dim, and the lights dont dim when doing this then your power system is fine its a bad starter. The starter for your motor (assuming auto trans) can be found at

If you are a handy DIY person you can do this change yourself. The starter is On the transmission. You should be able to see it if you open the hood and look at the transmission. It's held on by two or three bolts, has a couple wires going to it, and looks about the size of a large can of soda.

  • unhook the battery cables, starting with the negative first. and remove the air pipe
  • unhook the two wires coming off the starter
  • remove the two nuts holding the old starter in, and pull the starter
  • insert and bolt in the new starter
  • connect the two wires to the new starter, reinstall the air pipe, and hook the battery back up positive first and negative last. Make sure everything is torqued down good on battery and alternator and you dont see any corrosion, bad wires, etc. This shoudl do the trick

How do you drain the transmission fluid from a 1988 acura legend coupe?

The drain plug is on the right side of the automatic transmissions towards the front. You will get 2 to 3 quarts out and need to get Honda approved fluid (which is really Dextron I). It is $8 a quart at the dealer and the Castrol version is half the cost.

Location of the starer on a 93 accura legend

Hello! The starter on a 1993 Legend is very well hidden. It is behind the left drive axle.

I'll give you the removal steps to give you a better idea.

Disconnect the wires from the starter motor solenoid...

Unbolt the bracket from the starter motor...

Remove the left drive axle (see chapter 8 in a Haynes repair manual)

Remove the forward section of the exhaust system (chapter 4)

Remove the starter mounting bolts and carefully maneuver the starter motor from under the vehicle.

As you can see this is a very difficult job.

    Good luck.

Ok, I have the paneling off the door of the 88 Acura Legend.

With power windows you will not be able to move them if everything is as its suppose to be...i dont care how strong you design of the motor and gears no one can move them up and down with the motor in place.

Sounds like you have a powert problem to the window lift motors get that fixed and they should work on their own.

How to remove starter from 1991 acura legend

Follow the battery wire (disconnected) to the starter and remove the nut and solenoid wire. There should be two bolts to the bellhousing (a old term for the transmission to engine piece).

Clearance to remove 93 Acura Legend starter

you can either remove driver's side halfshaft or battery tray and alternator to remove the starter. i chose the halfshaft, since it gave a little more room to unbolt the starter. no need to drain transaxle when removing driver's side halfshaft. unbolt balljoint and tierod end from knuckle. i also removed the pinch bold that attaches the strut to the knuckle to allow more movement to remove the axle. axle nut is 36mm. use a large screwdriver or small prybar to gently pry the halfshaft from the transaxle, be careful not to damage the seal. upper bolt on the starter is really tough to get access to...
