SOURCE: how much oil will a ford escort van 1.8 diesel

if you have the owners manual-look in the index for oil capacity, or fluid capacities. that should inform you of the oil type and capacity (if you change the filter as well, it will prob. take another half-quart or so. the manual should inform you.
if no manual get on ford website, and search for escort 1.8L diesel van. precede with the year of model.it may inquire whether you have a/c, 4wd, etc. may need more oil, if so.
good luck!

SOURCE: ford fiesta diesel endura turn's over & try's

Normally, only 2 things stop a diesel from firing:
1. no fuel
2. not enough compression

No fuel can be caused by (obviously no fuel) or a failed fuel pump. To test, have someone turn the engine over and then sniff at the exhaust - does it smell of unburned diesel? (If you've run out of diesel recently, you may have an airlock in the system, this needs bleeding out.)

Not enough compression needs specialised equipment to test - that's a garage job.

could just be some water in fuel line has slightly blocked your filter again -you could change it out or try to restart and get it running for a while-may do the trick

Hi I plugged the scanner in my ford fiesta endura diesel 2001 (y reg) this code number came up P1564 also said injection pump control module requesting reduced fuelling. When starting the car up it smokes...

would try a bottle of fuel injector cleaner ( for DIESEL) sounds like an injector or two are "hanging"open causing too much fuel in cylinder(white smoke) .can be intermintent as heck

That indicator is commanded by a relay connected to the alternator. Check the wires and the relay. Or it may be just a burned bulb.
