Hi Mark, I suggest having a diagnostic scan of the climate controls carried out. That should allow pin pointing of the problem. Have a great new year. Regards John

SOURCE: Where ie the water pump on a 2004 jaguar X-type

The serpentine belt is on the left side of the motor. You will notice another belt on the right side of the motor to the left of the battery. You will have to remove the battery to get to the belt and water pump. If the leak is in this area then you probably have a bad water pump. It is not that difficult to replace.

Topping up with coolant almost daily, yet no apparent leaks. When engine turned on there is a surge of condensation on windscreen which is particularly present when heating turned up. Any suggestions?

Is the carpet getting wet? Get a torch and look around the back of the engine, especially where the heater hoses go through the firewall. The condensation on the windscreen suggests there is a leak in the hose - could be either side of the firewall. .

I have a 2004 s-type jaguar. I got stuck in the snow and I am now getting a faulty gearbox message. Once unstuck the car ran fine. What does this mean and have I ruined the transmission?

If you ahve an automatic gearbox, I would suggest that you sit with the engine running for approx 5 minutes, Then select each gear in turn with a pause of about 10 seconds between each selection. (Make sure the parking (Hand) brake is on and don't rev the engine.) This should help to redistribute the transmission fluid throughout the transmission.

Heat does not blow inmy 2004 x-type jag. Window condense up on defrost t times .why can't i get the heat to flow in the flow, only have defrost

Not a fuse. Condensation on window indicates plugged heater core or heater core needs replaced.
Also check for bad headgasket.

Windscreen demister takes awhile to come on and when it comes on it pops.my car is a 2004 jaguar x type 2ltr diesel sport

You will have to take a look at the connecting joints for the wiper mechanism for looseness or missing mounting bolts. Remove the cowell grill cover behind the hood to expose it. If you have the ignition on and the dimister set on auto, spray some water on the sensor (atop rear view mirror base) to get it working and show you where the pop is coming from. It definitely sounds like the armature is not mounted on right or is missing mounting screws.

Cracked radiator

if the radiator is cracked, do not drive it. you stand the risk of overheating and doing severe engine damage. take this to a radiator shop. there they can do the repair by removing the radiator and repairing or replacing the tanks on the radiator and boiling out the core and then resealing adn reinstall. its like getting a new radiaitor at half the cost.
