I do some maintenance for the fuel pump I start the engine but not started and 2 of the camshaft hummer are broken then I change it and I want to start after setup the timing gears I need drowning or guideline so I will not break the parts another time diesel engine
Most vehicles cogs usually have an arrow on them which points to a marker on the body behind the cog. all cogs must be correctly alligned before starting the engine.

isusu engine?? have you looked for a 8mm hole in timing gear that corresponds with a hole on plate behind then lock it in with a bolt ,remove bolt after tightening belt .DONT FORGET THIS ???.....if you cant find anything do it with no timing marks easy --- piston no 1 at tdc valves closed spin pump till fuel comes out of no 1 injector feed and lock it all together,indirect diesel is 6/8 ,,,,,direct injection is 12/16,,,,and turbo is 18/22 btdc

if u have a dohc engine and the timing was off u prob bent the valves head job needed

The camshaft position sensor is located on the engine near the timing belt cover and under the upper radiator hose.
This is with Crankshaft at TOP DEAD CENTER.
