SOURCE: 2001 GMC Jimmy is Hard

Try filling up a little less. To me it sounds like a vapor lock issue which clears after you burn off the top bit of gas.. Next time you need fuel up be sure to keep track of how much you put in. Another idea is to run the tank down and then only fill up to half a tank. If the problem clears then you know that you're having a vapor issue probably due to gas saturation of the canister (which can happen if you overfill the tank).

Low battery may have caused the body control module to act up. Unhook the battery for a while and reconnect it.

How to fix code PO496 in my 2006 GMC Envoy SLT..Hard to start after refueling & sometimes hesitant in the mornings with a puff of black smoak coming out the back.

This code refers to the EVAP purge flow happening when it is not commanded. Suspect a purge control solenoid. If the solenoid is stuck open, it will draw gas fumes and possibly raw fuel into the engine resulting in a rich condition ( black smoke ) and can cause the symptoms described. If left unchecked, it will compromise the evaporative emmission canistor by filling it with fuel and result in needless replacement of it

Wont start after refueling

Hesitates after refueling, have someone check the FPR, Fuel Pump and Filter.
If you have junk in the tank, it will circulate when you add fuel to the system.

2004 Hyundai Sonatai V6 hard to start after refueling...and stalls before it finally operates properly...Car has 100K milkes

You describe a purge control solenoid valve which has stuck "OPEN" (meaning it is continually applying a vacuum to the charcoal canister). When this happens, the engine computer cannot modulate the 'purge flow' from the charcoal canister. It is 'sucking' fumes continuously from the canister after refueling & is flooding the engine (excessive 'RICH' fuel condition).

Replace the PCSV (purge control solenoid valve).

I have a 2004 GMC Sierra extended cab. When I put

No switch as far as I know, but don't fill up with the engine running (if you do that) likely you have a purge/vent valve that is hanging up in the evap system.

After refueling does not want to start

you may need a new gas cap. the cap has to seal up air tight for your fuel pump to build up pressure
