You found this long ago I'm shure, but just in case. Flasher mounts on dash suport-bar way up behind the gauge cluster. Check out this site www.toyodiy.com It rocks lots of info.

check the feed on the back of the alternator (live), then check the engine earth if the truck has been lifted or raised the earth will be poor. try running an earth fron the exhaust studs to a chassis member.

Generally the point gap is between .018 and .020 inch on just about any engine. If you set the points in that range it should be just fine.
