1994 Ford Thunderbird turns off

My 1994 Ford Thunderbird wont stay on after I let go of the gas.It turns on but when I let go of the gas pedal it turns off.What can be the problem?Please help!!! :(

    I forgot to mention it's a Ford Thunderbird V8.Does that make a difference? :(

    My 96 Thunderbird will not idol i have just replaced the head gasket and machined the cylinder heads, it starts fine but when i put it in D and let off the gas for the first time it turns off. thanks

Check throttle position sensor, map(manifold absolute presure) sensor, for a vacuum leak, or iac(iidle air control) valve

If your fluid levels are OK, could sound like a problem with the Torque Converter; also dissamble and check Trans Valve Body.

The break light on the dashboard winks on when I


check your brake pressure switch, might find it on the master cylinder, my caddilac did that, so i wiggled the wire and it stopped so i replaced the part , good as new now.

Ford Thunderbird 1994 A/C compressor


Not necessarily. The fact that the vehicle is jolting when the a/c compressor is turned on could be to the fact that the engine is designed to rev higher when the a/c is on. If the a/c works, then the compressor is working and it hasn't seized. If this is the case, you may have a bad motor mount. This is more likely if you feel the motor lurch when you jump on the gas pedal. Hope this clarifies your problem and Good Luck!

had same problem on my 94 v8 bird try replacing the mass air sensor fixed the same issues on mine
