Question about 2006 Mazda 6

Open Question

Seat belt and air bag sensor goes off in cold weather when wearing seat belt

During colder months the cars' seat belt and airbag light will stay on once I have started the car and put on my seat belt. When I begin to drive the car starts beeping like I am not wearing my seat belt. The beeping goes away after about a long minute but the lights in the cluster stay on, or if I have warmed up the car I can turn it off and restart it and the sound and lights will go away. Does anyone have an idea of why this may be happening and what can be done to fix it.

Air bag dash light stays on

Hi there

Not normal at all. Could be a connection problem at the air bag pre tensioners, the part where your seat belt clips in to when you wearing the seat belt, or could be the hooter ring contact that is not good or the airbag/s has been activated then airbag computer and seatbelt stalks that activated has to be replaced.

Hope this sheds some light.

Phillip

Hi got 2006 Honda accord driver side airbag was deployed so i change the airbag, computer, seat belt so i try restarting the light and the airbag light comes back so i try reading the code and it 8...

have you changed the sensor on the side of the deployed air bag-it might be in the door or the center post between the front and rear seats-and when you say computor do you mean the main trigger or the one that runs the car-what happens is the sensor in the side sez-set off air bag then the main trigger also sez set off air bag then it goes off- the cpu for the car will only retain a history of the event-cheers Denny

Your airbag system is screwed up. Get to a shop immediately because its trying to tell you that your airbags won't work if you get in an accident.

I was in a wreck with my 1999 pontiac grand am gt v6 was not wearing my seat belt. should my air bags of deployed?

It really depends on the type of wreck you were in. Your seat belt being on or off does not have anything to do with whether or not the airbags would be deployed.
If they were not deployed it means that your car will not be labeled as totaled, which is a good thing.

Why does the airbag light come on?

Drive your car into a well lighted area.

Remove all item from the passenger and driver seats.
Example: seat cover

You will need a good flash light to inspect the weight and seat belt sensors connector under the seat.

With engine off and key out

Inspect the seat belt and weigh sensor connectors

Check the contacts if the connector is real dirty.

Reconnect everything and check the air bag light.
