CHECK FUEL FILTER FIRST..YOUCAN HAVE PLENTY OF GAS AT IDLE AND SLOWER SPEEDS BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR FASTER SPEEDS..CHECK RUBBER HOSE TO TANK ,,IT MAY BE CRACKED..WON'T LEAK BUT PULLS IN AIR.

i understand the problem chad skeet69 is having w/his 1988 mazda b2200. why would you lower a b2200? doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of hauling water with it? one way to fix your problem is to move. get expert help from a certified mechanic. it was fun talking to you in emails but i'm not interested in those kind of activities.

Has over 100,000 miles on it. drives around town alright but when you get it on the highway it only gets up to 50 mph at around 3000 rpm. I suspect the clutch.

Hi.
You can test the clutch by attempting a wheel spin. If you raise the revs then drop the clutch in 2nd - you should get a **** of acceleration or possibly a stall. If you just get a gradual acceleration with possibly a "bite" when moving - then yes you need a new clutch. Also any smell of burning you notice will indicate contamination of clutch due to oilseal leakage, Often better to replace the main crank seal while the G'box is off on high milage vehicles - as it's quick to do at the time.

Mazda engine bad

yes, i believe you could put any engine on your pick-up provided it is the rear wheel type set-up and the engine comes with its own tranny. problem is, if changing the engine mounts, tranny mounts, wiring set-up and exhaust system layout would not be of any problem to you. might as well look for the same mazda engine you have as a replacement to ease installation.

Mazda b2200, 1989 109000 miles. Vibration, seems to be in the front end, when moving between 30-40 mph, 3rd or 4th gear. Vibration still exists when not in gear, manual transmition. Tires are new and...

I have the same thing but mine is between 45-50 mph. I read about this a while back in a magazine for people that pull campers, the problem exists in all vehicles although its not as noticeable in every thing you ride in. There is a certain "point" at which your speed and engine speed reach, that causes a phenomonon that causes a vibration. Engineers relate it to "harmonics" which is a similar issue but in the electronic field of study. There is nothing you can do for it, and it varies from unnoticeable in some vehicles to driving you insane in my 1989 Mazda B2200. I had an '89 Ford F-150 that did it at 35 mph and a 2001 Dodge Diesel that did it at 45 mph, but those were the only three vehicles I've ever driven and noticed it.
