you can check with a parts store on the listed opening temperature of the thermostat. ask them to look up the thermostat, you'll need the year, make, model and engine size and just in case they ask, the v.i.n. ask them the thermostat opening temp. that wiil be the operating temp

If you mean brand I personally think Castrol or Mobil 1, you want semi senthetic 15/40w

Nobody can give that...at best, a Guesstimate...but they will need to do some testing, Diagnosis...they charge by the hour, are good at what they do, and if they are real good, will be ASE Certified Mechanics...ask around, for good references...I don't know where you live, but in North Portland, (Oregon), there is a small shop on Interstate Ave., that works on them...good luck...
