Question about Cars & Trucks
For the first time yesterday, my 2001 530i BMW struggled when going up a modest hill and lost power when I pressed the gas pedal. Could this be a bad coil pack or a fuel pump? How can I tell for sure?
If a coil was bad, it would be missing or misfiring. Could be a clogged filter or a weak fuel pump. To check have the fuel pressure tested. If pressure is good, a tune-up might help.

SOURCE: struggle to go up hill
the problem exist when the car goes uphill regardless of fuel demand. this sounds more like a transmission problem, check ur fluid if necessary have changed, have ur transmission filter system checked.if it were in the fuel system u would expirence this problem anytime u put fuel demands on the motor. but as u state it happens when ur going uphill which is the transmission job
