SOURCE: engine burning oil no oil leak little smoke

oil leaks are hard to identify by the blue smoke that you used to see. most of this smoke is burned up by the catalytic converter. at least until all of that oil plugs the converter up. you can tell if your burning oil by removing the spark plugs, and checking their appearance against diagnostic charts redily available on the internet. oil burning will leave a distinctive residue.

2000 Cadillac DeVille running rich city exhaust engine runs great uses boil it but doesn't burn have a blue oil leaves white smoke what could be the problem with it?

Running rich burns black smoke.

Burning oil, burns blue smoke.

Burning white smoke is steam and can be indicative of a damaged head gasket, or just weather conditions. Fuel contains water at molecular level.

What could blue tailpipe smoke be from?

Your issue could be a few things. Simplest first would be the PVC valve. Other issue would be valve seals, valve guides or piton rings. The blue smoke is from your vehicle burning oil

Blue smoke

Blue smoke (how many miles on engine, 50k or 500K???????
to some this means, burning oil, others steam
it that blue smoke lingers a long time that is oil burning
and smells just like oil burning.
and means 2 things,
1: engine burns oil.
2: if car had autotmatic trans the vacuum modulator love fail
and suck ATF fluid to the intake plenum and burn it, and bingo burning oil like mad.
3: PCV valve packed solid, and forces engine to leak oil or burn oil. or both. this is a 50k miles service point, skipping this?
4: gas in the oil making it thin and not sneaks past valve stems.
does oil change cure this.>?

now engines.
worn out engines smoke. (burn oil)
as do bad valve guides and seals.
and bad piston rings.
100 years same story, and miles matter. History on engine too.
matters.

My s10 emits white smoke when cranked...how do I stop it from smoking when cranked?

White smoke is usually coolant being burned in the cylinders.
If that is the case, I would expect to find a leaking head gasket or other serious engine problem.
Are you adding coolant or oil during the month ?

1999 saturn sw has blue smoke coming from tailpipe. I would like to know if it has anything to do with head gasket

blue smoke is usually oil burning- is it light or heavy- if light- change oil and go up one grade- rings are worn- if heavy- time for a rebuild- rings need to be replaced. but for the money on rebuild- could find car newer and lower milage

89 4.3 S10 running very rich at idel and going down the road black smoke what can I check

Your engine's on it's way out, coolants probably leaking into the oil and there's no good compression. A piston could be not firing properly and it's not burning off the fuel in time.

Reset check engin light

White smoke from exhaust indicates burning coolant. Blue smoke from the exhaust indicates burning oil. In replacing the valve cover gasket for an oil leak, some smoke from residual oil is normal but it would be excess oil burning off on the manifold from the engine compartment, not the exhaust. Hope this helps with your question.
