Valve cover gasket. (see image)
You can try tightening them before you replace, but with that high mileage, I would replace it for sure.
Ask the parts place what the torque specs are for the bolts, and if they don't know, you can call a chevy dealership and ask someone in the service drive.
They may not want to give the info out, but you can ask nice.
Easy fix, just make sure you don't drop anything in there once the cover is off and you gotta clean up the cover and lip of the head where it installs.

SOURCE: `1992 jeep cherokee lorado straight inline 6 oil leaking from the where the oil filter attaches to the motor

I'm fairly certain that the parts stores carry the oil filter adapter gasket. Check around for it and make sure both surfaces are very clean. I like to use a FILM of sealant on both sides of the gasket and install. The reason why you use the sealant is to compensate for any irregulatities of both surfaces. You also might want to install a new oil pressure sending unit to the adapter while you have it off. That is another place where you could have a leak. They like to wear out prematurely also.

Could be the guides, but the head gasket could also be the problem if not installed correctly or the wrong one. Also check for excessive oil flow under the valve cover.

Ihave a 96 s10 lt blazer First of all the steering coloum is now where near the engine block and the bracket you mention is for the throttle cable and the cruise control cable and has no gasket for any kind of a seal with the intake manifold. The 4.3 and most chevy engines have a problem with the intake manifold gaskets if you are over heating then likely the intake manifold gasket is leaking you should check your engine oil for antifreeze that will look like a fomey white yellowey residue and also check the radiator for engine oil floating on the top under the radiator cap. This is a big problem with chevy you can't let espesecly the 4.3 ever over heat. There is olny 8 bolts that hold the manifold to the block and there all in the four corners nun in the middle Y ou can save the engine if you fix it now but it is the intake manifold gasket that is leaking

After a long trip my chevy colorado will have white smoke come from the tail pipe after restarting and then stops after a few minutes ??? I need to use it on trips. What is happening?

White smoke is from water in the exhaust.
A failing head gasket can cause this.
Is your coolant level droping
Goes the oil on your dipstick look milky
Both of these are symptoms of a blown head gasket.

the problem can also be a cracked head or cylinder wall

Have a leak down test done to confirm if its a head gasket leak.

My 2001 chevy cavalier has a oil leak and I can't

You can buy a florescent dye to add to the oil and a light to make the dye really shine.
Clean the engine with "brake clean" from a spray can at the oil leak areas ....then run the engine.
Check for the start location of the leak.
Start with a short run time ....... then longer run time if necessary until the leak(s) show.
With or with out the dye ......this brake cleaning method should help locate the leak(s).

Oil leak locations could be...in order of the most common on your car are........valve cover gasket, oil filter, oil pressure sending unit, drain plug, oil pan gasket, crank pickup sensor, rear seal.

Check the Seal around the Oil Pan Drain Plug. If this Seal is Missing or Warped it will slowly leak oil.
