It is on top of the brake pedal shaft (above the part you step on)
On the back side of it.
There is a little button sticking out of it that makes contact with the metal.
Simple remove & replace job other than the small space you have to work in, .

The brake and turning lights are on a different switch than the tail lights. Check the fuse for the brake light circuit. Check to see if your front turning lights work. My guess is they won't work either.

The brake lights on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't shut off.

The brake light switch is defective or out of adjustment. More than likely located on the brake pedal arm near the top.

Brake light bulb replacement for 2002 jeep grand

After removing the 2 expose screws. You will need to carefully & firmly rotate the assembly away from the vehicle until it releases from the ball pin socket that holds it in back.
The unit contain 3 same exact bulb type, can be removed by turning them counter-clockwise 1/4 turn.

Brake Light doesn't work when headlights on

Have you tried replacing your brake light switch located under the dash on the brake pedal or it could be a short in the wire. You need a test light and unplug your brake light hornance from the bulb have someone step on the brake pedal touch the light to the hornance and see if your getting electrical current back there

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee no back lights

its either a brake light switch or brake light bulb socket not making contact in back because the piece where it makes contact brakes easily.,first check if third brake light on top of your rear door is working, if it is its not the brake light switch
