1991 Honda Civic DX - antifreeze reserves

I just changed my radiator on my 91 honda civic hatchback. Before I changed it a few weeks back, I used barr's leak. There is still some in the reserves container. Is there a way to take this out so I can clean it out or anything else I can do? I can see inside that there is some antifreeze in there mixed with the barr's leak. My new radiator works fine and is filled, but I didn't put any antifreeze in the reserves. Thanks

I cant find any screws or bolts? Where are they? Thanks all....

  • Anthony Cifelli Jan 20, 2009

Hey, it doesn't slide out.... I went to autozone and the guy said there should be two bolts; one on the backside and one underneath. He said to get the one underneath unscrewed, I would have to go behind the tire..... Anyways, I dont know much about cars and I dont want to mess anything up. So, he told me to fill it up with hot water and use a wet dry vacuum to get it all out. What do you think? Thanks!

Yes there is way- remove the coolant reservoir, disconnect the hoses ,undo the two bolts and remove the coolant reservoir . Empty out the old coolant, flush the resevoir with clean water , then refit and reconnect the hoses.

First off there should be one or two bolts on side or bottom if there is one remove then it will slide straight up. yes you want to clean it out with a house or in bath tube because it can cause plugs and other problems with new parts. let me know how it goes any more que. get back to me.

Got a 1991 honda civic hatchback dx for a starter car and its automatic, when it wants not all the time,so im driving 30mph and for some reason it like slips than catchs back on gear any ideas?

All Honda Civic Hatchbacks have been raced and thrashed to death by 20 year olds. Not a good starter car as all the other 20 year olds had the same idea.

Check the Transmission fluid level it may be at the operational limit and sucking air. If not, get a newer vehicle and not a Civic :>)

Will a1996 honda civic front door fit 2000 honda civic dx

The body style was the same from 1996 to 2000 for the Honda Civic. Are both of the Civics similar in body style as in they have the same number of doors? Not sure if a wagon or hatchback would interchange with a regular 2 door coupe.

My 91 honda civic dx hatchback which is an auto dont wanna seem to switch gears and revs! i dont know what to do

I would try to have the transmission flushed and filled with new transmission fluid for about $100 or so. If this doesn't solve the problem, a rebuild is indicated, if you plan on keeping the car. Or, you could alternatively buy a used transmission that fits your engine and car combination, that doesn't have this problem.

Good luck on this repair.

Change the headlight assembly on a 91 honda civic si hatchback

I don't believe you do. You may have to take several of the clips or screws out, that also help to hold the bumper cover on , but that should be it

91 honda civic dx. Starts, runs for a few seconds then stalls

Try pounding on the gas tank with a rubber mallet or similar tool. (careful not to dent the tank) Try starting it. If it runs, replace the fuel pump (it's nfg). I've diagnosed numerous fuel pumps this way. Remember the pump needs to be replaced, if you drive it, you don't know when it'll fail for good. Hope this helps. Please post the results.
