SOURCE: my battery cable came undone and now my car wont start i know it has something to do with my anti theft system how do i reset it or whatever i just need to get my car started.

Hello Jaclyn...Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle (valet)
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition key, press and hold in the button (little spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride the system, and only the keyless entry part, if installed, would still be operating....The LED light in the dash should also go on solid....At this point. the alarm would have reset.
If this had a starter kill relay installed it would now be opened, and the engine would turn over when tried.

You would repeat these steps to go back to user mode to see if this was corrected...i hope this information is helpful...Happy Holidays.

SOURCE: Is the anti-theft deterrant system the same system as the engine immobiliser or are they completely different?

Hello Jaclyn... Your Camry has an "engine immobilizer" designed to prevent "hot-wire" starting incorporated into the anti-theft system...This was standard on the XLE, & an available option on the LE. When the battery cable came off the immobilizer lost it's memory & is not reckoning the chip in the key. Try locking and closing all the doors. Then unlock the drivers door with the key. Repeat this several times, also tap the brake & gas pedal. If this does not help the dealer will have to reset it by the vehicles VIN number.
I hope this information is helpful.

this is the anti-theft system that has activated thinking the car was being tampered with. it will have to be reset. not sure if this is a problem with the BCM or the car keys have a problem. you may have to contact the dealer or a shop that can re-program this circuit.

Audi A6 anti theft, car won't start

The biggest problem with intermittent problems is getting them to occur. It seems that your trouble is sticking around, and maybe you need to just give in and have it flat-bedded to an Audi shop(hopefully the ride on the truck will be gentle enough that the trouble won't clear itself).

Citroen c3 2006 anti-theft

I had the same problem.when I used my main key my car wouldn't start and I got the message "anti theft faulty". The key and the remote still unlocks and locks the doors and turns the lights on/off but it just wouldn't start my car. I was able to start my C3 by using the spare key. The main key is still faulty and if used brings up the same message.

2004 mustang won't start because of anti theft system

Did you check the battery of the car (maybe loose cable)? but if it just happen suddenly, it might be your altenator that wasn't charging your battery. I think once there's enough power gone through the car then your anti-theft system should work as normal again.

The security light is 100% the problem. Let me say that again, one hundred percent. GM's are equipped with an anti theft security system. These systems are notorious for failure, and when they do, you get exactly what you have. A car that won't start with a security light on. The problem is figuring out why the system is failing. Could be anything from a bad key, to the actual anti theft computer called a TDM. (theft deterrent module) ive had great luck with just bypassing the whole system. Saves money and time. Prevents future problems. And you can do it yourself. This link will explain everything you need to know and give you ways to fix this yourself for hundreds less than a mechanic. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

Absolutely! If the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) "thinks" you are trying to steal the car, it is SUPPOSED to keep it from starting. The problem is that the PATS thinks you are a car theif when you are not.
Below is a table straight out of the service manual for your vehicle. Please note that the FIRST action that must be taken for any PATS system malfunction is to scan the computer system for fault codes.
