Question about 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt
When driving today my car slowed down and was sputtering and a warning message came on that said "reduced eng pwr." When this happened that car would not go over 35MPH. I was able to get home and stop the car, I turned it off for a few minutes and checked the oil, it was a little low but not dry. I then started the car back up and it seemed fine, i even drove it around a little and it seemed fine but now the check engine light is on. do you know what the problem could be?
I too had this same issue just last week. No check engine light or code would trip when it stalled and shut off. I kept it in park and kept giving it gas until it would shut off to try and pinpoint where it was coming from. Coolant fine, oil level fine. Finally I tripped the Engine Power Reduced code on the dash. Engine was knocking and shaking and kept dying at this point. Pulled the spark plugs, pretty nasty looking. Went to Advanced Auto Parts and got 4 new spark plugs for a grand total of 24 bucks. After putting it all back together and taking a test drive it drove better than it had when I first bought it. I know I see a lot of other things that have worked as well on here, but if you're stumped this could save you some big money.

It is either the Oil or the Coolant.
