Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: 1996vrav4 alarm remote

That is a "Factory" remote.
That means, you can only get it at a Toyota dealer parts dept.
About 80 dollars. When you get one, get back to me, and I will provide you with instruction on how to program it.

A FixYa rating would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming that the car actually has remote start circuitry (probably does if the remote you have has the actual button for it), and also assuming that the radio DIC has remote start ENABLED, here is how you start it . . . press and release the LOCK button, then press and hold the Start (top) button for like 1-2 seconds and the car should start OR the lights will flash.

Hi Darrell. nice double post and this is a custom system
so if it breaks, you need to find the name of the black box.
model , # and the full set if documents.
take those to any auto repair or autoelectric and show them those docs and ask them to fix it.
but car dont drive>! (per last post)
so what are your choices, only 2.
  1. tow it to a shop (with docs)
  2. learn to fix it your self. (ask)
  3. remove this hacked up system from car return car to stock so any shop on earth can fix it and not cost a fortune figuring out the hacks. (and time getting documents to learn all that $$$ labor)

ive done #3 many a time, alarms (trash), and remote bs.
but its your call, your car and your cash.

I have New Keyless entry remote for my 1998 Toyota camry. FCC ID-ELVAT6B, but do not have programming instruction.

why not read the operators guide in the glove box.
if missing?, get one.
or if really savvy, get the FSM , the factory service manual
get it read it and , bingo its all there, every word.
most cars, you need 1 key or 2 to make a new key, DIY.
that too is covered. , in the FSM.

Remote Control

the fcc is a red herring. (its just a fed. radio lic. to use this freq.)
what is your question?
you lost your 2nd fob that came new with car?????
want a new fob?
the toy, dealer parts list for this part, is on the toy site, you look and see it and see the p/n of the fob and then find one. (google p/n)
and get it programmmed.

Hmmm, a puzzle.

The only way to disarm these alarms is with
the factory remote or turning on the ignition.
To turn off the factory alarm.

Ok, do you have the remotes?
If so, let's ID the system.
Go to www.KEYLESSRIDE.com & use th fcc #s
on the back of it.

If not try this:

Programming Factory Security on GM Cars and Trucks
Instructions for programming the GM factory security systems that do NOT
disarm from the driver's door key cylinder. This programming is for the
cars and trucks listed below.

96+ Camaro
96+ Firebird
99+ GM Trucks
99+ GM Sport Utility Vehicles

Step #1 Turn the ignition on then off.

Step #2 Remove the radio fuse only (not the fuse that says acc/radio).

Step #3 Turn the key to the accessory position. When you do this you
will get two chirps from the door buzzer. Should you hear only
one chirp, your vehicle does not have factory security and these
instructions do not apply. You need to hear two chirps.

Step #4 Press the unlock switch on the door. This will give 1-4 chirps
depending on the program step. Continue pressing the unlock
switch until you get to the desired chirp setting.
1 Chirp - Security off
2 Chirps - Remote Only
3 Chirps - Factory Setting
4 Chirps - Passive Arming

Step #5 Turn the ignition off.

Step #6 Put radio fuse back in.

It all depends on what type of alarm you have installed on your Gran Prix. Make of alarm and fcc id number of the key fob would be helpful in determining how to put your alarm in valet mode, and still allow remote door unlocking, with alarm off.
