Auto Camry 97 cooling fan is not switching on automatically, the temp gauge shows normal temp. Also both AC and cooling fan works when AC is switched on?

If the temp gauge shows normal, you would not expect the fan to be on much. It is controlled by the coolant temp sensor. If the fan will not come on when the car gets really hot, it is possible this sensor has failed.

It is normal for both AC and cooling fans to be on when you turn on AC to cool setting.

Air conditioning

please follow this steps and fix it.
A fan failure, or a failure of the fan relay or control circuit is bad news because it can allow the engine to overheat.
Five things may prevent an electric cooling fan from coming on:
  • Defective temperature switch or coolant sensor
  • Engine thermostat is stuck OPEN (engine never gets hot enough to turn on the fan)
  • Failed fan relay
  • A wiring problem (blown fuse, loose or corroded connector, shorts, opens, etc.)
  • Bad fan motor
ELECTRIC COOLING FAN QUICK CHECKS.
One way to quick check the fan circuit is to start the engine and turn on the A/C to max. If the fan runs, the fan motor, relay, fuse and wiring are all okay. But this test doesn't show if the temperature switch or temperature sensor and PCM are energizing the fan when coolant temperatures are high.
To check the temperature at which the fan comes on, turn the A/C off and keep the engine running until it reaches normal operating temperature. Most fans should come on when the coolant reaches about 200 to 230 degrees. If the fan does not come on, something in the control circuit is defective. Resistance checks should then be made on the temperature sensor or switch, and a voltage check on both sides of the relay (you will probably need a wiring diagram of the fan cooling circuit on your vehicle to identify the relay terminals and wiring connections).
The fan motor itself can be checked by using jumper wires. Unplug the wiring connector on the fan, and use the jumper wires from the battery to route power directly to the fan. If the fan motor is good, the fan should spin at normal speed when supplied with 12 volts. Noisy bearings or a slower than normal speed would indicate a worn motor.

Weird Noise

The whine is likely the power steering pump. If the fans didn't work the engine would overheat, so I assume the fans are working as designed, keep in mind they don't come on until about 220F

My VW polo radiator does not come on when the engine reaches normal engine temperature i check all the fuse in the holder thy all seem to be ok, There is all so no current going to radiator fan switch...

The thing that you are bridging is called a fan relay.
you need to replace that,in the meantime you can bypass the relay by attaching the wires together.
If you need to see if the fan is working without waiting for the engine to warm up, just flip on your air conditioner which will in turn start the fan cooling system right away.

I have bought a Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.25 ( Model May 2010 ). Have noticed that the fan switches on and off frequently - even after a short drive in cool ambient temperatures. Is this normal ?

Hello,
The problem you are experiencing with your car is as a result of the fact that the fuse which supplies power to the fan from the main source(battery) is working eppileptically which means its failing in discharging power.

1.The solution is to open the fuse box and replace the fuse which controls the fan.
2.If the problem persists it means the problem is from the relay switch, which means the relay switch has to be replaced.

Problem solved.

Thank you for using fixya.

Hi, how are u all, I have a nissan sunny 1984 130 Y , with a very good condition, recently i skim the engin head, for now evry thing seems good except that the cooling fan won't work untill the temperature...

Normally the fan will not come on until the temperature is high enough to open the thermostat then your fan will come on. It sounds like it's working the way its ment to. When you turn the a\c on the fan will come on to keep your engine cool.

1991 honda accord the radiator coolant fan won't

hi this sounds like your radiator fan switch is u/s, you should be able to locate it on the radiator itself, either on left or right hand side, look for a large nut looking thing with 2 wires coming out and that will be what is needed...hope this helps

P0481 on grand prix 2002. cooling fans work with a/c on and relays seem ok. vehicle temp gauge opertaes ok and does not seem to get hot.

sounds normal, the fans were made to run continuous w/ ac running, but on sensor when ac is off. if car isn't overheating, the fans are probably running from time to time ,but your just not catching them running

Auxiallry fans on radiator dont seem to come on. how do they work

Hi, They are controled by a thermo-fan switch, when coolant reaches a certain temperture fan switch turns on radiator fans and brings temperture back down. Thermo-Fan switch is located bottom of radiator.
