have it checked for the autolock trigger/gun if its faulty. if your car came with manual autolock then there will be only one such gun installed on your driver side. otherwise there will be 4 gun on each of the door.

The lock button on the passenger door doesn't work when the ignition is at "on" position.. only works when it's on "off".. is this electrical problem? :(

some cars are fitted with autolock, car starts/car locks. some are fitted with driver masterlock button(above door switch panel)so the driver can lock all the doors/unlock for passengers to alight.but to stop you
locking the keys inside/you have them in your hand),car will not let you lock when in on position, keys in ignition/engine running etc.
so you do not have a problem.

Front passenger door autolock is not working

Remove door panel and check for power at door lock actuator. Most likely faulty actuator if power is at the master and individual power door lock switches.

Can the auto lock be disabled?

Yes it can. To deactivate the autolock make sure all vehicle doors and liftgate window are closed and the ignition is off.
1. Enter the 5 digit entry code
2. Press and release the 3/4 control while holding the 7/8 control.
3. Release the 7/8 control. The horn will chirp once if autolock was deactivated or twice (one short and one long chirp) if autolock was activated.
To reactivate autolock, repeat steps 1 through 3.

Autolock Problem

Try spraying WD-40 or similar in and all around door latch area on door.Spray up, down, in behind, etc as much as you can to try and unseize any linkages that may be in behind latch. Quite often the linkage to the motor for lock mechanism will get rusted & seize. After spraying, wait 5 minutes or so & keep working it manually a few times then every once in a while try power lock button. Can you at least hear it trying to work, like a faint thump in door when you hit switch or remote?

Auto Lock Activation

Deactivating/activating autolock
There are 3 methods to enable/disable this feature. One through your
dealer, the second with a power door unlock/lock sequence and the third
with the keypad.
Before following the activation or deactivation procedures, make sure
that the anti-theft system is not armed, ignition is off, and all vehicle
doors, liftgate and liftgate window are closed.

Smart unlock
This feature prevents the driver’s door from locking while the key is in
the ignition. This feature will unlock only the driver’s door if the key is in
the ignition cylinder, the driver’s door is ajar and all doors are locked
using the interior trim switch. If these conditions are met, the entire
vehicle will lock and the driver’s door will unlock within 1 second.
