How do I change the water pump on a 97 Ford Taurus V-6

I need to replace the water pump. What is the proceedure?

Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery then loosen the 4 water pump pulley bolts be sure to do this before removing the drive belt then remove the drive belt, alternator, and remove accessory drive belts and idler assembly bolts loosen the hose clamp and detach the heater hose from the water pump and then remove bolts from water pump they around $36.00 at NAPA

Use a flat blade screwdriver if its got two jubilee clips make sure the car is cold!,,,,as you risk burning yourself also after you replace the hose put water in and put heater settings on hot start the car let it get to temperature halfway on temp guage switch car off and let cool down completly check water level and top up if neede

The engine overheats, Iunderstand the 97 Taurus has a water pump problem


Replace the water pump and thermostat if you already are aware that you have water pump going out.

My 97 ford taurus has a rough idle, i have a new fule pump and new spark plugs, this only started after inot using the car for two aand a half years.


well after two and a half years the fuel goes bad and needs replaced also you replaced the fuel pump and didnt mention the fuel filter you should change the fuel filter also....

97 Taurus Belt tensioner does not lossen the belt


There should be a square big enough to fit a 3/8" drive ratchet into on the tensioner (should be closest to the pulley), insert the ratchet into that square, then try turning the tensioner, this should release the pressure on the serpentine belt. Hope this helps.

Replacement of headlights bulbs


1] remove th headlight assy. by removing the bolt on top of the assy and the 2 rod retainers.
2 ] remove the electrical connector from the headlamp bulb cover
3] rotate the bulb cover counterclockwise and remove cover
4] disconect the bulb connector
5] rotate bulb retainer counterclockwise and remove th ring
6] remove the bulb using a slight rocking motion
7] reverse proceedure to install

Need schematic for a 97 ford taurus transmission..


the front pump is in the front of the transmission. you have to remove tranie for access. if you are having a buzzzing nosie, you may just need to change the oil and clean or change the trans filter
