Hi there , I have a late 70s toyota landcruiser and the starter motor just gives one loud click. the battery is well charged and nearly new . the conections are good . I wired the starter to a switch my self but i was only using comon sence to do so, it may be wrong . why is the starter motor not turning the engine over ? is it the solinoid ? the truck is not worth the price of a new starter motor , so i was hopeing for a cheaper home job option . If you can pin point the exact problem for me it would be much apriciated , cheers

Have you ever heard of starting a car with a screw driver if so you could try doing that to the starter and see if you can start the car if so the problem is in the wiring some were. the only way to check that is to check all of the wiring that goes to the starter

1993 Landcruiser Toyota VX Ltd loud clunk when trying to start

I would pull out the starter and see what I could find, either the starter or the fly wheel. If you remove the starter you can look at the fly wheel and the starter. Good luck

Tried to start, it goes click one time.

It sounds like a faulty alternator, the alternator uses the momentum of the running motor to charge your battery. if this is faulty than the battery will not get charged while running and go flat. use a multimeter to test the battery. or try to jump start the car, if it starts when jump started than you know its an alternator.

When i try starting the car it does a clicking sound and i keep trying till it strartes ,, would that sound like the starter going or not ?

hi the clicking sound is probably the solenoid switch on your starter motor not fully actuating
this can be because it is worn or because there isnt enough battery power to open the switch
check the condition of your battery and all conections to it and the starter motor clean off any corrosion with abrasive paper to ensure a good connection if the battery is in good condition
and the connections are good you need to get a new starter motor or find someone who can recondition your old one

1999 landcruiser has intermittent starting problems. Sometimes it starts fine. Other times turns over once then nothing. Other times clicks but no turn-over. Other times no click, no start. Battery is good...

I had a similar problem with my landcruiser sometimes it would start no probs at all and other times it would start to crank and then stop and you had to try a couple of times to start it. It ended up being the starter motor contacts failing.
Just another thing to look at

Error code keeps coming up saying charging system failure, an car wont turn over, while making a loud clicking sound

Well if charging system has failed it sounds like your battery is to low to turn over the starter motor. Give the battery a charge over night then have the system checked for a bad alternator.

Hi, have latest 2010 LC79 Toyota Landcruiser V8 ute, where is the starter motor located , and how to remove..

The starter motor is buried in the V8 valley . It is about a days work to replace it . They are very expensive , have only a few service parts and don't like water .
