Question about 1996 Jeep Cherokee Country

96 Jeep Cherokee Headlight

I just replaced the headlight switch because it went bad and my lights would not come on. And now with the new one in, it is either the headlights will come on or the park lights will come on only if you barely pull the knob out. Any suggestions?

Honestly, I think you have a bad part. It's not uncommon, especially with electrical items. Speak with your parts person and they should warrenty the part. Another switch should cure things.
Good luck.

My 1996 Jeep Cherokee's headlights don't come on when I pull the switch, but after about 30 seconds they come on and then sometimes when driving down the road they go out. What's going on?

It's likely you have a loose connection or a bad switch. I recomend haveing a mechanic look at it unless you are experianced with automotive electric systems. These sort of problems tend to be a nightmare for the "doityourselfer".

98 Jeep Grand Cherokee, The low beam lights went out, the high beams work OK. Has anyone found the common problem yet with this issue? 101,000 miles.

If your headlight switch is the type you pull out, left of the sterr column on dash, switches tend to go bad, I replaced mine and only had 50,000 miles. try checking headlight relay in engine fuse box first.

96 jeep cherokee se replaced head light pull switch

Have you checked the breaker and the hi/low beam switch for power? Did you look at the connectors in the switch plug? I have a really poor diagram that seems to be non-specific on this. Also, if you have a headlight delay module check that also.

96 Jeep Cherokee headlights go on and off after being on a while.

It sounds like the relay switch is weak or going bad. It gets power and then stays closed giving 12V to the lights. Try replacing the relay.

Jeep headlight problem

Check the relay for you headlights. It seems like you are only getting juice when in hi-beams are on and not lo-beams. Or maybe the lo-beam portion of you headlights are burned out. There are 2 filiments inside the light, one for hi and one for low.

Both headlights went out--dash light still work --could it be a loose fuse?

Sounds more like the head light switch is at fault, check it, I think the issue is there.
