Question about 2000 Volkswagen Golf
When driving the car, after a bit it cuts off. I then have to wait anywhere from 15 - 30 mins. to start it back up again.
It doesn't seem to matter the weather as this has happened in both hot and cold conditions.
At this present moment, the car will not start at all.
If it is a diesel it might be the same issue as I also had with mine. What VW does not do well is tell you in their TDI diesels you need to use a 505.01 approved oil otherwise your camshaft lobes will be rounded off to circles and not tear drop shape like they normally are. Most lube places don't have the correct oil that is approved by VW and it leaded to the premature engine wear. I have 88K on mine and they said the engine if blown and sounds like the turbo is going out also. You might get a diag. at a VW shop to see if that is it! Hope you find the problem!
