I have a Chevy S-10 stepside with a 4 cylinder 5 speed. My problem is my AC/heater blower fan. For awhile it would only work on high. The other day it just quit working completely. I replaced the fuse in the fuse box under the hood and as soon as I tried it , it blew the fuse again. Anyone have any ideals whats going on with it?? thanks

The truck is a 1998 with a 2.2 engine. Do you know where the BMR is located ? Also , is it very hard to change? Thanks.

The blower motor resistor is probably the issue. I can't help you on its location because you didn't include the year and engine size of your truck
Good luck with resolving your issue!

No it's not difficult. The resistor is located under the hood on the passenger side. At the back of the engine compartment you need to locate the airbox it can be identified by a circular piece that's right beside the fender on the firewall (this is your blower motor) to the right if it (looking from the front of the truck) about 4 -6" you will see a wire plug. Unplug this connector and locate the four screws that attach it to the air box. Remove these screws and pull the resistor from the housing. A new one should'nt be expensive(about $20.00) If you find this dosn't fix the problem you will want to look at checking/replacing the switch in the dash. However the resistor is the most likely.
hope this helps! If you require further assistance please post a reply here and i'll be glad to help some more.

2000 Chevrolet Impala blower motor work from 1-4 but not on 5th speed why?

The blower motor relay is energized when the Blower Motor Control is set to the High position. This removes the blower motor resistors from the circuit and battery voltage is then applied directly from the HVAC BLO fuse (RH IP Accessory Wiring Junction Block) to the blower motor though the relay switch contacts. The blower motor then runs at high speed.

HVAC Blower Controls Circuit Description
The blower motor is a variable speed motor. The motor operates at a higher rate when voltage is increased to the maximum level.
The blower motor resistors reduce the voltage supplied from the A/C FAN fuse (LH IP Accessory Wiring Junction Block) when the blower control is set at low and medium speeds (speeds 1-4).

The defrost, heater and Ac all went out on my 1993 maxima.

If the blower worked, but couldn't get cold air, there may be a leak of refrigerant in the A/C system. If you're complaint is about the lack fan-forced air; that could be a problem with the fan speed switch or a bunch of other places. Most often however, it is the speed control resistor. 2005 gmc sierra heater fan quit working. I lost the fifth speed months ago and a couple of days ago lost the other four, the first day the fan would come on sometimes while driving then quit after a while...

1-4 speed are the blower motor resister . It controls all 1-4 speeds, also it's under the passanger side dash around fan, the 5th speed runs off a fuse the is located in the fuse box. It's one of those square fuses , not the relays but fuses. The resister will run $15 and fuse $5 . Good luck. I have replace these before

The fan on my heater/ac stop working on settings 1-4 for awhile it worked on #5 but has now stopped altogether

The blower resistor has gone out but if blower is no longer working on speed 5 then either the blower motor is bad as well or the pigtail connector to the motor are bad. Check the plugs to the resistor and to the blower motor for insulation damage discolored or melted wiring.

Blower doesn't work at high speed

you will need to replace the fans blower resistor. its mounted in the cab. in the lower right side of the heater box. some aftermarket suppliers are carrying the part but all chevy or gmc dealers will have it.
good luck chris
