My 2004 pontiac montana wont start, need help ASAP!

no the transmission shift cable is streached and needs to be adjusted. you should be able to shift the van to neutral and start it in that gear. just watch when you park because it will roll away. use parking brake. if it doent start in neutral then your cable may be snaped and not noving the gear selector on trans at all

The rear coil springs on my van, do they get weak? can you put heavier ones on it?

Rear springs will weaken over time. Depending on road conditions and loading habits this may happen sooner than later. You should be able to get heavier springs, especially in the aftermarket, but it would be a good idea to call or take the van to a shop that specializes in spring work. They are very knowledgeable about what you can do to solve the problem. You should be able to find such a shop in your local Yellow Pages. If they aren't under Springs then check under heavy trucks. Hope this helps.

None of the dash gauges are working on 2004 montana van,why ? tach, speedo, gas gauges not working

Check you fuses, chances are the fuse has gone bad and will need to be replaced. You have a fuse panel under the hood by the battery and another fuse panel on the passenger side of the dash at the end, just pull the fuse panel off and you'll see the fuses.
Thank you for using fixya and keep us posted.

Hood latch

Try spraying the latch mechanism with WD-40 or similar light oil and operating the release cable a number of times. Check the condition of the release cable if nothing happens. The latch itself may have a broken spring due to the low temps.

2004 pontiac montana power rear hatch will not open

chances are that the rear door latch is seized and will have to be taken apart oiled to free up the mechanism. to get it open you will have to go through the inside and there will be a round plug to pop off. this will allow you to force the door to open. I have fixed many vans with same problem

2000 Pontiac Montana hood won't open

Many times if you pull on the release and have someone give a sharp "bounce" on the leading edge of the hood it will get the latch to work. If you get it open, make sure you spray the mechanism with some wd40 to free it up.
