Turn the key nothing happens/ keeps blowing ING fuses in engine

I drove over a big speed bump then my car just stopped. when i turn the key nothing. The battery is still fully charged/new, but inside the engine fuse box the ING fuses 1 & 2 were blown. yes somewhere there is a short, so i followed the wires to the fire wall then lost them, but then followed the ING wires the opposite direction, but i cannot find a short.
when i go to put the #2 ING in it sparks.
I am not to knowledgeable about cars, but I am a single mother who has no money to pay someone, and I have to get to work.
so it is up to me please help in lame terms

First of all thank you all for your help...mrgreenz and cactus bob. I feel like I have died, and found mechanic and me heaven... this website is perfect for me...

    Ok let’s get started.

    1. Mrgreenz’ s ok, give me a little slack because I want to make sure a fully understand what I am doing. so here is a stupid question.. " are you talking about the connection inside the dash or outside from the firewall to the engine ???? When you say ignition switch connection to the harness?

    2. Also where the air cleaner is, I found a small red/ grey plug that I cannot find where it connects to, and I can tell from the way the pervious owner taped it.. it does go to something other than for a diagnose.

    3. As well as, where exactly would I start following the grey/ violet wires? For example from the engine fuse box wires all the way through to the dash, or opposite.

    Thank you, Cactus Bob.

I also went into the engine a found the box, but I guess if it does not need to be reset one cannot find the reset button easily.

But that is great to know, any other cars like this…

Here is where I am at, I looked for the wires to follow them, yes I found a few cracks and taped them up, also check the truck.

BUT, when I go to reconnect the battery then replace the blown fuses inside the engine fuse box immediately it either blows right away or sparks in the ING second box enough to scare me, but both fuses ING 1 and 2 blows. Also all the interior electric windows, and gauges etc.. do not work with the battery and the ING on.

Not that this is correct, but just to trouble shot can I wire the 2 prongs on these big blown fuses just like the little ones inside the dash ( but only in a emergency situation) till I figure out what is wrong because I am out of 60 fuses and $. As well as tomorrow is Monday, thank goodness for holidays. One more day to get this working

    Thank you

Try replacing the ignition switch . Not the key switch but the plastic swith that plugs into the harness. Check light gray and violet wires for any shorts to ground.

THERE IS A SWITCH , IT SHOULD BE IN THE TRUNK , WHEN THE CAR IS HIT IT TRIPPS AND TURNS OFF THE FUEL PUMP it needs to be reset , it should be begind the side covering of the trunk and be a small box with a button on top , press it , the car should start

Starter Fuse Keeps Blowing When I Try To Start My 2001 Camry

The starter has gone to ground. This is either a coincidence of age or the repair shop left something disconnected that has slapped around and grounded the starter or some of their other work has shifted around and done it. It could just be a coincidence. If it went to ground internally, it will need replacing. If something shifted and grounded it out, putting that something where it belongs and THEN replacing a fuse should fix it. Most shops reuse your starter on their new engine.

I have an '04 Sebring Convertible with the 2.7L V-6 engine. It has been running fine with no problems for over a year since I bought it. Then the other day, I had it detailed and drove it home...

This happens all too often on the Chryslers, the starter fuse blowing. The cause in most cases is the starter solenoid. I recommend replacing the starter and the solenoid when this happens, to keep from having to do it again a few months later, I hope this helps.

I'm no expert but when you turn key to run position, this turns the fuel pump on if the pump is faulty i would think it would blow the fuse also. Or its your theory a short in the ignition system wiring.

Why does my 1990 suburban keep randomly blowing the ecm b fuse has gone months with out a problem then is drivible again then will blow fuses again. Seems to come and go on its own

Scroll up and LISTEN to the guy talking about a SHORT. That's what it is. Take off the air cleaner assembly. Lift all the wires up and off the engine, pull the big wire loom a half inch out of the hole it disappears in going through the firewall. Keep doing this until the fuse stops blowing. Took me ten seconds. I still don;t know which wire it is, but I am buying some rubber fuel line and/or wiring loom protector to insulate everything off the valve covers, etc. Be sure to pick up extra 15 amp fuses in case it happens again, and be ready to tell anyone who drives the thing what to do.

Case: 1990 GMC 1500 SLE Suburban. Ran just fine, then the ignition shut off when I hit a random bump or pothole. Cost me a $750 tow before I got on here and did the wiggle test. The fuse stopped blowing. I will update if my fuel line/insulation idea didn't work, but I think it will. I will also tape every exposed wire with electricians tape. . .
