Fix Highlander heat problem but created new one

Help! Thanks to this wonderful site I was able to fix my 02 Highlanders intermittent heat problem.  I went to this page and got all the help I needed: http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/highlander/32217-heater-quit-sort-of-2/. However, now that I went through the whole fix, pulling apart, soldering wires, etc. and put the thing back together I'm having a vent problem.  The heat / air is only coming through the dash vents, no face no feet.  What have I done wrong?  Thanks for any help you can offer.

Check your vaccum lines

all over lol. The ones you would be looking for would be on the back of the temerature control on the back of it.You had changed the heater core?Is it the one that removes from under the dash if so the only thing i an see that would of happend in the prosess is a vaccum line got snagged or there is a little mottor that is ran by vaccum that is mounted under the dash usually closer to the center of the veichel but of to the left a little that controls the flap to change from defrost to floor to vent.I would start with checking that and make sure nothing got broke there.if you find it just switch your controls from defrost to floor to vent to see if it moves.

    Hope that helps you

How to fix fan cold/hot system toyota avensis 2007 2.0 lt

Perhaps the Avensis has a brittle cable like in the Highlander.
Please see
http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/highlander/32217-heater-quit-sort-of/
It's usually broken solder joints on a cable behind, and feeding, the temperature knob.
I repaired my 2002 Highlander yesterday thanks to this site.

Uneven tyre wear on my 2009 Highlander?? Toyota has blamed alignment and they have now checked and re-set it 3 times in 4 months. Does anyone else have this issue or can provide an answer?

Highlanders usually go between 15-25k miles before needing tire replacement.

One suggestion is to bump the air pressure in your tires up to 35PSI vs. the recommended 30PSI.

There seem to be others with the same problem, maybe you can check out the forum at this link for more information.

CHeck engine AND VSA light came on in my car 2003 Highlander

Hello, and welcome to FixYa. Without knowing the actual 'code' (the reason for the light being on), it is hard to state with any accuracy.

However...we see quite a bit, here in my shop, Highlanders with the Check Engine light on, right after an oil change. Often, whoever changes the oil sometimes checks the air filter, and, when they open the filter box, they knock off a vacuum hose going to the air filter box. This could be your problem.

Go out to the vehicle, pop the hood, and check the black box that holds the air filter, on the passenger side front of the engine compartment; look to see if a black rubber hose is not connected. If it is off, reconnect it and drive the vehicle 10 miles, shut it off, and drive another 10 miles. This may extinguish the light.

I hope that this info helps you out. Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.

How do you engage the 4wd in a highlander? 2007 model year

Hi.

Highlanders, that are equipped with 4WD are 'full-time' 4WD vehicles;

There is no 'dis-engage to 2WD mode' provided.

A/C will suddenly send out heat. Fiddling with knobs seems to help. What's wrong?

The nut that holds the middle knob has gotten loose and the knob (which is probably loose) has caused a wire behind it to break. I found the fix on the internet with details and pictures and all you need is to take the cover off and solder the broken wire back. I don't know where the website is now but search "toyota highlander blows hot and cold" and you might find it. Good luck. don't let dealership put a new control panel in.
