SOURCE: my rear hatch won't unlock

The actuator in the tailgate latch may have failed, another posibility is a broken wire in the harness that passes from the boby to the tailgate. If you carefully pull the rubber harness cover boot back, you may find some of the wires have fatigued and broke.

Locked trunk

The release contact switch must be dirty and corroded...you will have to jiggle the rear hatch...when trying to open again...when open spray the hold down bracket, and the under side of the hatch that makes contact...the best spray for this is PB Blaster, available at Walmart auto parts section...this will not hurt the electric contacts...as you still cannot open the rear hatch, you will need to remove the inside panel of the rear hatch to expose the release arm on the inside of the hatch. Hope this helps.

Hatchback won't lock on saab 9-3

I had the very same problem with my 2002 Saab 9-3 after I manually moved the trunk latch to the locked position "out of curiosity..." Then I noticed there is a handle you can pull to release latch opening it up! Very simple remedy... It is a glow in the dark green plastic handle hanging down when the trunk/hatch is open dead center, just in slightly behind latch... Gently pull handle until you hear and see the latch click into the open position...Let me know how You make out. BTW: Toyota Camry has the same set up,same color as well...lol Good Luck!

You might want to replace the two holding levers positioned on the left and right side of the hatchback door.

Rear hatch won't stay up

If your rear hatch will not stay up then chances are shocks that are used to hold up the hatch are shot. If you replace the shocks that should solve the problem. I hope this helps you out.
