Well to get the key out all you need to do is takeWD-40 and put the small hose on it as far as you can down the ignition the spay it and wiggle the key UP AN DOWN then take a sewing needle and wiggle it around in the ignition som anything holdin the key in there will come loose. TRUST ME I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2006 SILVERADO

Sounds as if the ignition cylinder is bad. You will have to replace it if the key is stuck. It is a lot easier to replace with the key in the on position as that will be required to remove the cylinder. If you get the key out and then the cylinder will not turn, replacement of the cylinder will be more complicated

Key Stuck in Ignition, Key Will Not Return to Off Position, Shifter Button Won't Release in Park Position (Adjust Shifter Detent Finger)
2002-2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Customers may comment on any of the following conditions:
- The key is stuck in the ignition cylinder.
- They cannot return the key to the off position to remove the key.
- The shifter button won't release in the park position.
This condition may be caused by the detent finger shifting over time. This may result in mis-alignment and binding of the shift rod on the shift position guide.
WHERE YOUR SHIFTER IS YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT APART ..MAYBE THE RUBBER BOOT IS IT THE WAY,OR THE SHIFT LOCK SELINOID WHENT BAD
There is a TSB on this issues if your having ignition lock issues.

Attention: This bulletin only applies to vehicle equipped with automatic transmission.
Turn the key to the run position, Within 5 seconds press and release the gas pedal three times. The change engine oil light will flash while the system is resetting. Turn off the ignition. If the light or message comes back on and stays on when the vehicle is started,
the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
