Take a gas line off and try to whirl the car over. If you are getting gas shooting out, then your fuel pump is working. However, just because you are getting gas out, doesn't mean that it is sufficient pressure.
Hello George. Just saw this post and thought I'd answer even though you probably already solved it. I had an 83 with manual tranny--loved that car. I replace the filter twice. It is right under the driver's side floorboard tucked up tight next to the outer frame rail as it inclines up toward the firewall. Hard to work on. David
