Your gear selector cable is broken somewhere between the the selector itself to the transmission..it's not hard to check, just have somebody pull up and down on the gear selector and you lay under the driver door looking under to see where the cable is wobbling

Was driving it before church and parked, came out and it started but it wouldn't shift into gear, shifter will move but won't engaged

Sounds like your linkage has separated.... but, first check the transition fluid make sure it is full and use the correct type for your brand of car.... the linkage goes from the bottom of your shifter and hooks to the transmission...as you move the shifter in the car it selects a gear on the tyranny by physically moving a leaver... a lot of times they are cable or leavers but some are electric..

How do i adjust shifter cable so transmission goes into Park?

Hi,you need to jack car off the ground, and put selector in refirst and aply hand brake, undo the gear leaver from the gearbox then manualy put the gear selector in park position then ajust selector linkidge so that it will go back on without pulling the gear selector out fom its position,if it dose not pick up park now there must be something wrong with the gearbox.
hope this was some help.

Sounds like the cable is loose or an cable adjuster needs adjusting, check both in the engine bay and under the car, something is loose.

check the bushing on the gear leaver where it goes into the gearbox (this is a favourite problem for ford from most for vehicles ) second is the selectors are maybe bent or the dogs have moved

1997 subaru impreza wont go into reverse

The subaru gear linkage from the gear stick to the transmission often breaks or gets jammed on something. Look under the car where the gear leaver goes down to the transmission and make sure there is nothing obstructing it. Otherwise try adjusting the clutch linkage to make sure it is completely disengaging.

My 2005 Chrysler 300C is stuck in the park position even when the car is started and I put my foot on the break.

look under the car at the gear box for the gear leaver to see if its moving when you try to get another gear,,if it dont move there is a fault in the gear selector not the gear box,,,

turn it in to your insurance, you are most likely going to need an entire new steering column to fix this.

ZAFIRA 2006 CANT REFIT SELECTOR SHAFT AFTER REMOVEL?

If you mean the gear selector. Fit it Into position. Remove the Cover from the gear lever, Hold the gear leaver to the left. Place a 6mm Allen Key or Small bladed screw driver in the hole on the left to lock the lever into position. Under the bonnet twist the 'Remote to the right or left(not sure which way). There is a White Pin with a spring on it. This will push in and lock. The gears should the n be set up. Tighten the lock nut on the selector 'Stub' that's on the rear of the gear box and bingo the gear leaver is set.
