My 2002 Ford Escape starts, but won't stay running. When I take my foot off the gas and press the brake to put it in gear, it stalls. Alternator, battery and starter are new.


check the air intake hose from the air filter box to the intake for any leaks make sure it's on and tight. If that's good I would lean to the idle air control valve which is bolted on the upper intake near the throttle body normally round bolted to intake with (2) 8mm bolts. Before you replace it unbolt it and make sure it's not clogged up and make sure that the hole on the intake isn't clogged up.

Temperature related problems like this is usually the plastic intake manifold bolts. Check for tightness, some may be really loose. #5 and #6 near the firewall are he easiest to check. When it warms up, the plastic intake expands and seals the leaks from the loose bolts. Snug those bolts back up and check back.

Upper intake manifold with a new gasket on the lower intake manifold and torque the bolts, in sequence, to: 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm)

What is the torque specifications for the intake manifold for my Lincoln Ls V6 2002


Upper intake manifold bolts : 89 in.lb. Lower intake manifold bolts : 89 in.lb. Thottle body bolts :89 in.lb. Front intake manifold support nut:89 in.lb. Upper intake support bracket nuts :53 in.lb. Check engine light is on. I was told it is the EGR. How do I locate the EGR on this vehicle? The code is P004. 2002 Chevy Express with 5.7 ltr. engine.


http://www.autoguide.net/apf/chevy-engine_parts/express_2500-2002-air_intake-b7010_148259del.html well it should be near the front of the intake manifold, you will see the EGR valve ( which looks like the thing on the web site link). Disconnect the electrical connector, remove the two 10 mm head bolts, remove the lead coated gasket from the intake. Be sure to clean the surface of all evidence of the gasket, using care to not get any into the intake. Place the new gasket on the EGR valve, using the bolts to keep it in place, put the new EGR on the intake. Tighten the bolts up evenly, plug the connector back in, hope this helps

Need head bolt,intake upper and lower and rocker arm torque lbs.


Head bolts--------- 22 ft lbs.
Intake upper------ 18 ft lbs.
Intake lower------- 10 ft lbs. Tighten vertical bolts first, the diagonal bolts, failure to do this will result in an oil leak.
As far as the rocker arm bolts, they have to be adjusted with the valves closed, tighten down just enough to turn the push rods with your fingers with slight tension.
This is out of a Technical Specifications Manual.

Need informtion removing the Intake Manifold on 2002 PT Cruiser to replace plugs and wiring


Removing the intake is no prob. on these. Assuming this is a non turbo model, you remove the two bolts holding the egr tube flange at the back of the intake. You will have a couple wire clips you need to dissconect and small vacum hoses that will be easily noticable as you try to move the intake aside, but there is a row of small bolts at the front inbetween the intake rails holding the upper intake to the lower. Seperate the manifold by removing these bolts. it has rubber gaskets that stay right with the manifold you do not need to replace at reassembley. This will allow you to move it far enough to change the plugs. Hope this helps.
