Heater only blows cold air untill your at 60 MPH

I was wondering if anyone could help us figure out what is wrong with my car. I've had it's flushed and filled.....also changed the thermostat. Changing the thermostat fixed the problem of not getting any heat at all but now my car blows cold air until your at 60 MPH.....or if you rapidly accelerate......then promptly goes back to cold air........Any suggestions? Oh my car is a 2001 Pontiac aztec

I have basically the same problem. My coolant was very, very dirty. It was just plain brown, like rust water. My radiator tank had a leak, I replaced it & thermastat. Then ran water through it & the engine until it stayed clear (it took several times), but no soap. The engine is running very rough, popping sounds come from engine when driving for awhile. Heater worked (some what warm) I drove 10+ miles then it turned cold. The anti-freeze was still clean looking though after all this. Please give me some advice how to fix the heating problem. Heck maybe my whole problem. Thanks I appreciate it.

Sounds like heater core still plugged,and/or has air in system.I have had good luck with back flushing ( rinsing in reverse of normal flow) with a mixture of cascade dish washing detergent and water. This ("new and improved" Dex-cool antifreeze/coolant) sure does gum up and eat certain gaskets. When you have it refilled find a mechanic that has a vacuum operated filler. These are the greatest way to refill with no air pockets. Also could be the temperature blend door being incorrectly opened/shut though I doubt it.Hope this helps and please rate me!!

On hot days my A/C blows hot air and on cold days my heater blows cold air i dont know what the main problem is

your core could be clogged. you can flush it by removing both heater hoses coming from firewall and spaing the garden hose in one and then switching to the other until clean.

repair shops will not flush core when flushing coolant unless you ask them to.

they radiator flush has created a blockage in the heater core that creates the heat. you dont want to replace this part because it can get $$$$. i would take it back to the shop and have them try the service again( at no charge) to see if it can remove the block
