Its connected to the brake lights of the car itself.. connect the trailer brake lights directly to the cars break lights.. run the wire from under the trunk ,, lift the carpet off you will see a few small drain holes, and connect the indicator and break lights directly to that of the cars.. In some cases you may also need to increase the fuse amps (In some cases).

bad door switch, dose your dome light go out when you close the door? brake light can be a tail light out, put 4way flashers on and see if on doesnt flash. but most common is low brake fluid in the reserve. if its not low a common problem is its sensor an easy fix the replace comes with a new cap just unplug the 2 wires on wireline and plug in the new . battery light comes on if the battery is low or if the alternater is bad . jump the car, once running disconnect the neg. battery terminal if the engine stops the alternater is bad if not get the battery tested

2009 Chevy Equinox has no brake lites, has no brake or turn signals in trailer light plug.Cruse is not working. No power at stop lamp fues .code 0703

Your going have check the fuse for the brake lights if the fuse is good check to see if threr is power at the brake light switch when you fix your brake lights the cruise will work. As for the trailor plug your going to have to check the wire conections to the plug.

With headlights on and hit the brakes the trailor lights go off

Usually a ground problem in the harness. The brake lights use the ground that the clearance lights are using.

I thought these trucks came with trailor wires up in the bumper. I found them so all I should need is to install a trailor plug right?

Yes, well, that is if the trailer plug is the right design for the trailer. They have to match up, but you're in luck. They make adapters for them.

1997 GM product may be different than a 1997 Ford Expedition, for example.

And depending on your trailer, where you get it, and how it is set up for lights and brakes, that will vary.

I need to hook up a boat trailor Whats the color code for a 1995

I suspect that the 4 wire harness includes a ground, so you may not be able to connect both brake lights and turn signals, which are separate lamps on the pickup. You may need to get an adapter.

In any case, the color codes on the pickup are:

Tail lights -- pink/blue
Brake Lights -- green/yellow
Left turn signal -- gray/blue
Right turn signal -- gray/red
Ground -- black

I have a b 2200 mazda pick up. i recently put on a 7 prong plug to pull a small boat trailor and when hooking up wires i have a seperate brake wire and dont know were it goes. i tried to hook it to the...

the wire you maybe talking about could posibly be for the trailer brake controller, which you have to buy serperate i'm not to sure how much it will run you but i would look into that because that is what the extra wire is usually forwith the 7 prong trailer plugs

No brake lights

The two wires running the length of the truck are most likely a 12volt pwr supply,a ground or trailer brake signal wire.usually for charging a camper trailer battery and trailer brakes, check the brake lamp fuses in your fuse centre, most likely 10a.replace if open.if they still are inop, check with a test lamp to see if pwr is at the light sockets,(clamp of test light to good ground, usually white wire for brake)if no pwr is there then make your way to where the trailer plug was installed and check for pwr there(make sure your brake peddle is depressed during these tests, with key off as not to pwr up the park lamps)also check the ground at the same time(usually black)by reversing your test lamp(clamp to 12v)your brake switch could also be faulty(switch with button on arm of brake peddle).pick up a chiltons or haynes service manual to help with wiring diagrams and wire colors.
