Oil filter

You'll need an oil filter wrench, collection pan, and socket set for starters. A lift and jack stands are advisable for safety reasons. Any auto store in your area can look up your vehicles specific oil filter and specific oil weight needed. Some even tell you your cars oil capacity. Once you've got the materials and the car is raised start by loosening the oil pan bolt but not removing it. Once you can spin it wit your finger line up the oil pan and remove the bolt with your fingers keeping in mind there is usually a washer you'll need to remove also(if it ends up in the pan of oil a magnet will easily retrieve it. Once drained remove the old filter and replace with new one. Replace the washer and bolt. Under the good you'll find your oil reservoirs cap. Remove it and either using a funnel or simply cutting an empty bottle in half using the cap end without cap to act as a funnel(I've even used an oil quart container I just bought storing the contents in a large cup, bowl, or other disposable container. Once you think you've got enough oil in the car run it for 5 minutes to circulate the new oil. Turn engine off and check the oil level using the dipstick. Adding more oil is easier than removing but if your level is too high you risk blowing seals so do not ignore this. Dispose of oil properly, most auto shops take used oil for free.

How much oil do u use for an oil change in my quest v6

4 1/4 qts if oil filter is not replaced. 4 1/3 if filter is replaced. A new filter absorbs some oil too. Read your owner's manual for accuracy please. It might be under "Maintenance" section or "Specification" section.
