Question about 1999 GMC Suburban
The gears are stripped in the window lift mechanism in my 1999 GMC suburban driver side window. I have the replacement part, but no instructions on how to open the door panel and get inside without risking breaking the window. Is there a website with such details?
The window should be put in a closed position.
Hidden screws behind buttons of the same color as panel should be opened up using a pick or small screwdiver.
Pry the lower part of the panel away from the door using a paint scraper, The lower half of this panel is usually held in with plastic fastners. When pulled hard enough they will release. These fastners are replacable you can buy them at your local body shop. After releasing all plastic fastners lift door panel off door lock in an upward thrust. Be careful not to pull to far away from door due to wire harnesses and speaker wires ect.. These can be uncliped to remkove whole panel. To operate window you can replug window harness wires in order to bring the window into the proper position to remove bolts that hold it into place. Carefully position glass in upward position and duct tape in place.
The regulator is held in place by three or more bolts.
Compare your new part to the existing window regulator.
Installation is reversal of removal.

How do you remove the 3 bolts from the motor as they are behind the motor and in the door casing? A rachet will not fit!
