Vauxhall high pressure in engine

High pressure buil up bin engine got head skimmed and new water pump and thermostat but the engine temperature is at 90 degrees all the time

90 deg is the operating temp for most vehicles ,with Vauxhall this may vary depending on the model ,as long as it does not go more than 110deg to max on the temp gauge you are OK

Hi, did you recently skimmed the cyl-head? if so, then cyl-head is skimmed till last capacity, so you need to get the thicker cyl-head gskt. If not skimmed, remove cyl-head and skim it. it might be corroded or wapped.

!st thing is put the thermostat back in the cars todaysue the restriction to slow the water down because of the small radaitors
If there is any air bleaders in the system open them when you are filling the system to let traped air out

I have hiace 3L with new head water pump,radiator,clutch fan,thermostat,radiator cap,fuel filter,new timing belt and it over heats after 100 km and has blown the cylinder head gasket twice since . any...


probably a dumb question but was the engine block skimmed and on certain cars you get different thickness gaskets for different performance heads, and is the timing correct?

Overheating


OVERHEATING CAN BE CAUSE BY MANY THINGS LIKE FAULTY THERMOSTAT AND FAULTY RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP,TOO MUCH WATER IN COOLANT SYSTEM NEED 50 / 50 WATER AND ANTIFREEZE.LOOK FOR WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE LEAK, IF COOLANT LEAKING OUT WEEP HOLE WATER PUMP BAD NEED REPLACING.CHECK FOR LOW COOLANT LEVEL, YOUR RADIATOR OVERFLOW JUG SHOULD HAVE COOLANT AT THE FULL COLD MARK IF NOT KEEP ADDING COOLANT INTO COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG UNTIL COOLANT STOP DROPPING AND FULL COLD MARK, IF OVERFLOW COOLANT JUG WAS EMPTY RADIATOR IS LOW ON COOLANT.WHICH CAUSE AIR IN COOLANT SYSTEM KEEPING THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FROM BEING SUBMERGE IN HOT COOLANT WHICH TURN ON THE COOLANT FANS.WHEN ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GET CERTAIN SET TEMPERATURE LIKE 190 DEGREES THE PCM AND COOLANT SENSOR WILL TURN ON COOLANT FANS, IF VECHICLE OVERHEATING COOLANT FANS NOT WORKING EITHER YOU HAVE FAULTY ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CHECK COOLANT FANS FUSE AND RELAYS. My Toyota Hiace high roof with 3L Diesel Engine heats up. This was after the cylinder head was skimmed and had new valves replaced. Please help me. How can I stop this heating up? Cannon


Your thermostat may be staying closed, if the top coolant hose becomes hot after the engine running for a while, then thermostat is opening ok. Next check to see if the bottom hose going to the rad is getting warm. If its staying cold then you may have a problem with the water pump not circulating the water around the cooling system. If thats ok check the rad cap is sealing ok. when the engine gets up to normal engine temperture remove the reservoir top filling cap which has a rubber pipe going to the thermostat housing. with the engine running there should be no water coming down the pipe and exiting the filler cap. If there is it could be the rad cap not holding pressure which it would need to be replaced or the head gasket is leaking and pressurising the coolant system.. hope this helps you..

Engine Temp pegs, then drops


Hi I am vortash if the vehicle is overheating but no heat in the heater system it means no water in radiator ?. ie none in the heater matrix either you have a serious problem if the water is finding it's way into your oil and emeulsifying .. turning the oil creamy white means the head gaskest has gone and need replacing driving the vehicle in this condition will cause more damage to the head and result in at least a $2,000 bill for repair .. as the head will need to be skimmed pressure tested and posibly replaced doubling that initial $2,000 repair cost ..
get it checked out now and save yourself a bundle before it's too late .. regards Vortash

you probably have air trapped in the system. Have dealer or radiator shop bleed system.

I assume your cooling fan is working.

what engine v6 or v8?

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Engine Cooling The cooling system components include the:
  • block heater (optional)
  • cylinder head temperature sensor
  • fan blade, fan motor and fan shroud assembly
  • radiator
  • pressure relief cap
  • degas bottle
  • radiator draincock
  • water pump
  • oil cooler (optional)
  • water thermostat
The water thermostat:
  • controls the engine coolant temperature.
  • allows quicker engine warm-up.
The degas bottle:
  • provides a location for system fill.
  • contains coolant expansion and system pressurization.
  • provides air separation during operation.
  • replenishes the engine coolant to the system.
The fan blade draws air through the radiator to help cool the engine coolant.
The fan motor:
  • operates only when the engine is running.
  • will not operate when the engine is off.
The engine coolant flows:
  • from the lower radiator hose to the water pump.
  • from the water pump to the engine block and the cylinder heads.
A closed water thermostat returns the engine coolant to the water pump. An open water thermostat allows the engine coolant to flow to the radiator.
Unsatisfactory coolant materials:
  • Alcohol-type antifreeze does not provide adequate water pump lubrication.
    • has lower boiling point
    • reduced antifreeze protection
  • Alkaline brine solutions will cause serious engine cooling system damage.
The cylinder head temperature sensor provides a signal to the temperature gauge.
  • will invoke failsafe cooling.
The optional block heater:
  • electrical heating element is installed in the block cooling jacket.
    • uses a standard 110V (220V in Europe) electrical supply
  • keeps the engine coolant warm during cold weather.
The auxiliary water pump (3.9L only):
  • provides heater coolant flow boost.
  • has a secondary function of providing engine-off cooling.

Isuzu car engine overheating


I had the same problem on a Vauxhall Montery (Same Car), The thermostat jams shut thus causing the engine to overheat and damages both the cylinder head and gasket, first thing to check is the enigne oil, pull out the dipstick and check for a white, spongy liquid. If present then your head gasket is passing water into the crankcase, If engine oil OK then fill up the coolant system and give the car a good old rev for a few minutes then check teh exhaust for water. In both cases the cylinder had needs to be removed, skimmed, gasket replaced and thermostat replaced.
