Question about 2002 Toyota Camry
The auto door locking function is working but when I try to program the doors to auto unlock when the car is in park, it will not work. I followed the manual instructions which say to 1. put ignition in the "on" position 2. within 10 seconds push and hold the power door locking switch to "unlock" position for 5 seconds
locks should unlock and lock if this is done properly. I tried multiple times and have no success. Any ideas?

If it doesn't work from master switch then the door lock motor actuator will need to be replaced, this requires pulling the door panel.

Not an easy fix! The door lock function was designed to lock doors only. you can however, disable this lock feature by simply cutting the light blue automatic door lock signal wire on the 6-wire harness plug connector located on the chime module (In component center).

Check this site out
you need the passenger side door lock assembly kit.
There is one posted for sale in the US on this site. just scroll down for the following information and link
Used 1998 Toyota Avalon passenger door lock assembly 1998 Toyota Avalon
passenger door lock assembly
this is the part that surrounds the lock driver side. Car color is green cary, North Carolina 27513
The solenoid or actuator arm for the door lock assembly is probably not working to full spec.
Hope this helps.

It is not that hard to fix. Actuater is sold as part of the assembly. You can't just replace it by itself. Order the part online for a lot less than dealer. I learned that when the passenger side did the same thing a couple months later and I saved $150 on line. Remove the inside door panel. Remove lock assembly from door. Remove door handle.
