Bad NEW thermostat? I had the same problem on my first generation Dakota. The problem for me turned out to be the DODGE thermostat I used to replace the old Dodge part. I went and got a Stant from local auto parts store using the standard temperature spec and quit shivering the next time I drove it. I hope that helps!

I was reviewing similar issues and found the following tip. Start with the basics... Is there plenty of coolant in the system? Many people including myself have overlooked the obvious. THEN...

Try the thermostat solution. I guess when the thermostat gets old it opens up too soon and prevents the engine from running at the corect temperature. You may get better gas mileage and performance out of the deal as well.

No heat coming from the vents.

If it is a manual system--sounds like coolant low ie: air bubble in system. If it is ATC system, Check Codes, if no failure codes, coolant may be low--air bubble in system--most Durango's have air bleeders in system.

04 durango when on heat temp goes cold than back to warm

you could have air in the cooling system . did you do any cooling system repairs like a water pump or thermostat cause after the repair the cooling system has to be bled of any air in the system or you will get overheating issues also you should check for a stuck thermostat. hope this was helpful

I have a 99 durango i have replaced heater core water pump thermostat and all hoses still barley any heat just warm vehicle comes up to normal temp does not over heat but still no heat please help

Are the heater core hoses getting hot? That could be a blockage in the intake manifold or engine block. Is the blend door sticking? That would be one item that would make for lukewarm air if the hoses feel nice and hot when up to operating temperature.

I have a 2000 dodge durango

1. That was the wrong thermostat.
2. You're low on coolant.

1998 dodge durango temp never gets over 180 on gauge but engine is warm, and no heat comes out of vents and the blower works.

Check your coolant levels first then if that is good you might need to change out your thermostat

Make sure you chek out the coolent level and if the level is fine, the next step to go is the heater core. it should be one of these 2 solutions!!
