How do you replace a headlamp on a 2004 toureg

Start with 94-01 to get the headlamp assembly out and follow the remainder of the instructions if you have halogen lamps and use 94-02 for replacing HID lamps. The only tools that you need are a 6mm socket (with a screw drive handle) to turn the open/close shaft and a pretty long flat head screw driver (about 7" or 8") to depress the securing clip while pulling the assembly out. It may help to have 2 people the first time that you try this but once you get it the first time, it is easy enough for one person to do it. What ever you do, do not over turn the open/close shaft. Before you order replacement lamps it might help to take the old ones out to make sure that you are ordering lamps with the proper specs.

Hope this helps. :)

How do you get the bulb out of to change it of the inside lights to a 04 chevy impala

Some of these newer cars need to have the complete headlight "capsule" remove to access the bulbs. They are usually held in by a couple of bolts somewhere. Just don't turn the adjuster screws

Open the hood.
  1. Remove the radiator air baffle.
  2. Apply light pressure to the headlamp lens to hold the headlamp in place while removing the retainers.
  3. Lift up the headlamp retainers to release the headlamp from the upper fascia support.
  4. Remove the headlamp from the slots in the upper fascia support.

There is also a locating lug on the lamp that slides over a slotted groove,When the 2 screws have been removed grab the lamp firmly and pull to the rear this will free the lamp from its location and allow access to the bulb holder.

Need to remove headlight assembly on a 2004 Volkswagon Touareg. I can't locate the removel clip. (last step)

Once you turn the octagon screw to release the light and push it forward or out of the front of the vehicle, take a light and look to the left side if your working on the driver side or the right side if your working on the passenger side and you will see a metal tab release. Take a long flat head screw driver and press down toward the ground gently. The headlight will be released and the whole assembly comes out as it has a plug/electrical connection on the back of the assembly. I just replaced my headlights, I have a 2004 Touareg with 44,000 miles and have already gone through 2 sets of headlights. The VW dealer will want $300.00 to replace 1 side! They have lost their minds. How long have you had yours and what engine do you have? Just curious if you have had any problems? My Touareg has just needed tires, brakes, headlights. I have done the brakes as well. They want around $900.00 + for front plus about 8 for the rear. If you need anything just hollar and if you have any questions just let me know if I canhelp.
