The Mazda RX8 has electric power steering there is no fluid. You may have a problem with you electronic power steering control moduel, or the power steering pump

Check fluid level in engine bay, if its full it could be your pump thats gone, first check these then if every thing looks fine take it to the garage

there is no fluid in this vehicle. it is a fully electronic steering rack controlled by a control module. no pump either, its all inside the steering rack. so your only problems could be the rack itself, the control module, the wiring harness, or the fuse. thats pretty much the whole system.

My Rx8 did the same thing. It's an easy fix. Change the battery cable end on the Positive Post. You may have to cut the white wire and wire it in with the main battery cable. I did this to my Rx8 and have had no problem's since.

Hi, i owe a 04 mazda rx8, automatic transmition, i have problems with my power steering , idk what it could be, my power steering light is on and its imposible for me to move the steering wheel either...

How is your power steering level, have you checked that recently? if its full, then your power steering pump might be not working, or your rack and pinion has been damaged already.

I have a 2009 RX8 R3 w/20,000 miles on it. Just started it to go get gas and out of no where the power steering stopped working. Yellow steering wheel light w/! Is on. WTF? I know how to drive without...

One of two things have happened:
  1. Your power steering pump went out and needs to be replaced or,
  2. The drive belt that controls the PS pump broke
The RX8 has only two drive belts so if they are both fine and none are broken then it meant that the PS pump itself has went out and needs to be replaced.

Let me know what you think and dont forget to rate the solution.

Thank you and have a great day!

My 2004 mazda rx8 has been steering rough. The wheel is hard to turn and not smooth. I called the dealer and he asked if I checked the steering fluid and I said I thought it was ran by an electric system....

Replace the Positive Battery Cable end. Pay attention to the white wire that has an inline fuse that connects to the battery cable end. My Rx8 was doing the same thing. I replaced the battery cable end and have had no problems since.

Stearing gone stiff

It's understood that the 2004 RX-8 came standard with Electric power steering.
There's a computer module for the electric steering assist too, which sounds like it has it's own diagnostic port.
On your own, I'd suggest looking for blown fuses.. beyond that it appears that any diagnosing and fixing is up to your local/preferred stealership.

How do I fix the power steering n my mazda rx8 04?

My RX8 had the same problem. First, change your battery cable ends. On the Positive cable there is a white wire that powers the power steering. It probably has a bad connection at the battery post. I cut the end off my rx8 and just put a regular battery cable end on it and my problem was solved.

2004 mazda rx8. Power steering light came on this morning and I lost power steering.

You either lost your belt, or the oil is gone from a broken hose.

2004 Mazda RX8 Power Steering not working and light on.

I would check your power steering fluid level first. If it's full your power steering pump is bad.
