Door panel removal

The outer door latch is broken on the drivers door. I want to remove the inside panel, but cannot get it off. I have removed all the screws, but something is still holding it on near the interior door latch. Is there a trick to this?

How do I remove the outer door latch assembly on a 2001 Ford Contour driver door

You will be needing to open the driver's door and remove the inner door panel.
You may find some problems because of damaging plastic clips in the process.
This is a normal problem with the job.
After removing the panel, take a strong light , and look inside the door panel, where you will see what need to be done next.
Some cars require you to raise the door window to access the outside latch.
God bless your efforts.

How do i take off the inside drivers door panel on a 2005 dodge caravan

Hi Roberta, here's the instructions on how to remove your door panel. I have to wonder though on why you are removing it, my guess is you window doesn't roll up or down and your replacing the regulator. Any way here goes.

REMOVAL

  1. Remove the plug and remove screw attaching door pull cup to inner door panel.
  2. Remove switch bezel and disconnect power window/memory switch.
  3. Remove screws attaching trim panel to door from below map pocket.
  4. If equipped, remove window crank. (Refer to 23 - BODY/DOOR - FRONT/WINDOW CRANK - REMOVAL)
  5. Remove screw holding door trim to door panel from behind inside latch release handle .
  6. Disengage clips attaching door trim to door frame around perimeter of panel.
  7. Lift trim panel upward to disengage flange from inner belt molding at top of door.
  8. Tilt top of trim panel away from door to gain access to latch linkage.
  9. Disengage clip attaching linkage rod to inside latch release handle (INSIDE DOOR HANDLE LINKAGE).
  10. Separate linkage rod from latch handle.
  11. Disconnect the power door switch, courtesy lamp electrical connectors.
  12. Remove front door trim panel from vehicle.
Hope this helps and have an awesome day Roberta!

2006 Ford Focus ZX4: Front passenger door handles do not engage, both inside & out, no resistance at all. Any exploded diagrams available to show what parts needed & how to...

the plastic clip that holds the door release rod on the latch is either broken, or fallen off, to fix this you need to remove the inner door panel, there will be screws along the door handle puller, and inside the little door cup, also on the inner door handle there's one, if you have mechanical windows there's a clip that holds that handle on, remove it with a small flat head screw driver, ( watch out they tend to fly off ) once the screw is off the door handle, pop it out towards you, and remove the rod and clip attached to it, once all the screws are removed,, take a putty knife, along the bottom of the panel and pop out the clips that hold this in place slide the panel up to get it off the window rail at the top of the panel,, now once inside your going to see a sheet of plastic, peel it back , look inside the holes in the door for a rod thats come off ,, once you locate the outer door handle,, you will see where the clip and rod go on one end or the other,,

Left drivers door will not open from inside it does open from outside how to repair

you will need to remove inner door panel, either the handle itself broke where the rod connects,or the rod fell off or broke at the door latch, or the door latch lever bent or corrodded, the outer and inner handles use the same door latch but not the same mechanisms or rods to operate the latch. Once you remove the door panel and the inner dust shield with the window up look in the bottom of door for clips or a rod or broken parts. and note latch and handle for boken or bent and missing pieces. once you start looking it all becomes self explanatory.

How to change drivers door latch on vw golf sdi 1999 as drivers door opens when driving

Have you tried using WD-40 to help the lock from sticking you may not need replace it.
However if you feel it's necessary ...you need to remove the inside door panel with the window up remove the two bars that are you inner lock and door handle levers a plastic clip holds them into place on the lock itself .a drop light is very helpful once the levers are disconnected remove the outer screws on the door itself the lock should fall off from the inside at this point ...install new lock and reinstall rods { levers} to the lock itself test before reinstalling door panel then secure when confident it works properly

Front outside door latch does not work

Remove the inner door panel which allows access to the door lock. Remove it and you should be able to remove the outer latch mechanism by removeing screws from the inside. Check both the lock mechanism and the latch for whatever broke or bent.

It sounds as thought the rod from the outer handle to the latch inside the door has either broken or come off. remove the door panel and inspect the rod assy.

The front passenger door will open from the inside but not from the outside.

Requires removing inside panel to gain access to latching mechanism. Most likely a part has broken. Make sure window is raised. Examine all four sides of inner door panel. Look for screws and or screw caps. Remove all screws including door handle, power window and remote mirror controls. Gently pry bottom edge of panel away from door while feeling for resistance (be certain all screws are removed). When inner panel is released, raise panel up and remove. Inspect outer door and inner door latch to determine malfunction (working both controls one at a time). Replace defective parts from dealer or junk yard. Reinstall is reverse.

Broken inside door latch on driver;s door

Use a trim stick or pair of small screwdrivers to pry the door panel up. First you should remove the screws holding the armrest and any other trim. Work from the bottom up removing the panel and feeling for the clips, which should just pop out with a reasonable tug.

You won't know what parts are needed until you see the latch - perhaps you only need to reseat the latch. Look in the bottom of the door for any parts that may have fallen off and can be put back to make it work. You may need a telescoping magnet to get at those parts.

Door will not open on Buick Regal 95

you need a long screw driver, 10mm, phillips, torxs bits, trim panel popper and a pocket screw driver. if you can hear the actuator working thhere is a plastic replacement boot. pop up the switch cover from the fron. remove the rear reflector/light remover 10mm bolts(3). remove the torx and the open handle cover. then use the trim panel popper and remove the panel. then take the long screw driver and follow tow lock rods to the ned then twist the screw driver. two more rods need to be removed at the back. one has a adjustment. do adjusted it! then remove the torx 30 latch in the outer door part. remove the latch. then two torx 10 on the actuator remove them. at this point you will see a pastic rod that is not connected because the boot came off or the actuator is bad. install the new boot in the latch then take the place rod or the actuator push it into the boot at a 45deg. then swing it down. o ya make sure the gears are aligned top all of the way to the right and the bottom to the left i think. its the same as when you pull it a part. also do not over tightend the actuator to the latch. have fun
