You are reading into it too far !....... put it (nozzle) into groove and squeeze 3M weatherstrip adhesive (black) for a thin coat all the way around seal then carefully start putting it on, making sure you don't stretch it installing it....otherwise you will have a bunched up spot when you end . and will have to try and work it out pushing outward all the way around to get slack out of it. DO NOT CUT IT !!! IT'S MADE TO FIT TRUNK AND MAKE SURE IT'S NOT UPSIDE DOWN !!!!

On my car, which is the same as yours, it is located on the manifold top back left. Pictures in the book just show it on top.
SOURCE: Trunk Latch will not pull closed.
The small switch is the trunk by the pull down motor with the flap that depresses down is at fault. That is what you call the truck pull down switch. You can take this part and show it to a Cadillac or Ford parts department sales person and get a replacement for you car. Ford uses the same part for their Lincolns and Crown Vic's. The part is made by the very same supplier for Ford & GM. Ford will sell this part at a much lower cost as well compared to GM

I learned the following through Internet research, from several local automotive body and paint shop owners, and practical experience.
Best weatherstrip adhesive: 3M Auto Advanced Black Weatherstrip Adhesive, stock number 08011, 5 fluid ounce tube. This product is available at many automotive supply stores and retails for less than $10 up to about $13.
Coverage: One 5 fluid ounce tube is ample for applying two thin uniform lines of adhesive for at least 20 feet.
Application (my procedure): (1) To ensure that the weatherstrip, which is elastic, will be properly positioned, after cleaning it and the raised metal edge of the trunk opening, temporarily install the weatherstrip without adhesive, place position markers (tape) on the weatherstrip and perimeter of the trunk opening at critical points, and then pull the weatherstrip off the raised metal edge. (2) Apply a thin uniform line of adhesive on the raised metal edge across the top and at the upper corners of the trunk opening. (3) Apply a thin uniform line of adhesive into the groove of the weatherstrip matching the coat just applied to the trunk opening edge. (4) Assemble the coated surfaces - matching position markers - with sufficient pressure to ensure the weatherstrip is fully seated, especially in the corners. (5) Continue by alternately applying adhesive to and assembling matching 2- to 3-foot sections of the trunk opening edge and weatherstrip on the sides of the trunk opening, matching position markers. (6) Complete the job by applying adhesive to and assembling the trunk opening edge and weatherstrip across the bottom of the trunk opening.
