yes, only 35,000 miles, could it just be a fuse?  it's also only 2 degrees here!

i read on another site, that in the fuse box, in the engine there is a yellow fuse (plastic) and to pull it out for 30 sec.  i did that and it works fine now.  weird!

thanks for the help, i appreciate it!!

Well it's worth checking , there is a fuse in the under hood fuse block labeled F/BLW , its for the front heater / air conditioner blower , and there is a TSB , technical service bulletin on the lights for the HVAC control unit , but this vehicle is covered under the 60k base warranty . i don't know if i would want to go to much farther than checking that fuse , taking the HVAC control out might void any warranty , be careful . do you have the owners manual to help you identify the F/BLW fuse under the hood ? if not i would ask the dealer to supply you with one , as there wasn't one at the time of purchasing your vehicle and maybe they will give you one . good luck with replacing the fuse , hope it works for you since it's so cold .

My 2005 Kia Sorento, temp gauge is midway between half and high. Just started, cooland and oil are fine. Heater works fine. Belts are good. What could be wrong. Check engine light came on this morning too

May have a cooling fan that has malfunctioned mounted on the radiator. Check under the hood for a fan or two mounted on the inside or outside the radiator. If you find one or two, start the car and let idle watching for fan(s) to kick on when thermostat gets hot.

I also have an 04 Sorento and LOVE it. I live in northern indiana where it is super cold in the winters and just this year my truck started squealing when temps got low and when the heat is on. My dad has also changed the belts, even though they looked fine. that didn't fix the problem. I was searchng for some answers and it seems that many people are having this same issue with sorentos. Its super annoying and like you sid embarassing! I love my truck, but HATE this sound! if you find anything else out, please post! Thanks!
